There are obviously many problems with this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge and it obviously has many limitations (some of those problems and limitations possibly being a lot more obvious than others), but the following text on this page hopefully gives a basic outline of some of the reasons why something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge could be useful (or could be a useful step) for overcoming and eliminating or fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways (in ways which can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be the most effective)…, and making all of that the priority of human society… (or for bringing about a situation in which all people can unite in diversity to make all of that the priority of human society…); and some of the problems with it and some of its limitations will be covered separately. Obviously so many different kinds of action are needed in order for humankind to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways, and one of the purposes of this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge is obviously to support and encourage all action to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways*, but a main purpose of this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge is obviously to also help make more space for more action to do all of that (and all action to do all of that), or to help make enough more space for (or to generate) enough more action to do all of that, i.e. to help ensure that all of human society is primarily devoted to doing all of that (or to help make it the priority of human society to do all of that); again this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge obviously isn’t a perfect idea or an end in itself, but is just a means to contribute to the aim to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, and a means to contribute to the aim to address, overcome and eliminate some particular underlying problems with or in the current structuring of human society which:
– prevent enough from being done to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways;
– at least indirectly cause so much suffering and injustice in so many (other) ways*;
– get in the way of all people uniting in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways… (and overcoming and eliminating those particular underlying problems could make it so much easier to overcome and eliminate all the other problems or obstructions which get in the way of all people uniting in diversity to make all of that the priority of human society…).
Those particular underlying problems are obviously alluded to in the text of the ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge, and the rest of the text on the pages of this site hopefully outlines some of the reasons why something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge could be useful for addressing, overcoming and eliminating some of those particular underlying problems which it could be useful for addressing, overcoming or eliminating (or the rest of the text on the pages of this site hopefully outlines some of the reasons why something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge could be useful for bringing about a situation in which all people can unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…).. And if there are more effective and faster ways of addressing, overcoming and eliminating those particular underlying problems with or in the current structuring, or if there are more effective and faster ways of bringing about a situation in which all people can unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (which take into account and deal with all the issues raised on the pages of this site), then this would obviously support those ways more than this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge; if there are ways which can definitely address, overcome and eliminate those particular underlying problems with or in the current structuring, and which can definitely bring about a situation in which all people can unite in diversity to make all of that the priority of human society, then this would obviously support those ways instead of this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge. The reason why the full text of this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge is as long as it is, is that in order for there to be true uniting in diversity (of all people) to truly make it the priority of human society to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, it could obviously be useful (or possibly necessary) for some ideas to be dealt with and elaborated on, and for certain other steps to be taken, to lay sufficient foundations for that uniting in diversity (of all people) to make all of that the priority of human society…; and the full text of this declaration, petition and pledge obviously doesn’t mention all the necessary ideas and steps specifically or individually, but the ideas it deals with hopefully lay sufficient foundations for all the necessary ideas to be dealt with, and the steps it implicitly calls for hopefully lay sufficient foundations for all the necessary steps to be taken; all the steps this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge implicitly calls for are aimed at being useful for (and possibly might be necessary for) bringing about a situation in which all people can unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… . People signing this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge obviously doesn’t in itself constitute people actually uniting in diversity to make all of that the priority of human society… (and again obviously so many different kinds of action are needed to do all of that), but again something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge (with all the steps it implicitly calls for) could as a whole hopefully also constitute a useful step for bringing about a situation in which all people can unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways… (and again the text on the pages of this site hopefully outlines some of the reasons why), but again if there are more effective and faster ways of doing that (which take into account and deal with all the issues raised on the pages of this site), this will obviously support those ways more than or instead of this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge.
There are obviously so many specific causes of suffering and injustice which it’s so important to mention specifically (including causes of suffering and injustice which need to be addressed in order for other causes of suffering and injustice to be fought in the most effective ways) in so many contexts, but for various reasons, the text on this website doesn’t mention so many of those specific causes of suffering and injustice (which it’s so important to mention specifically in so many contexts), but obviously just refers to all of those specific causes of suffering and injustice in general (by just using the phrase ‘all the different causes of suffering and injustice’); one of those reasons why so many specific causes of suffering and injustice aren’t mentioned specifically on this site is that so many people within the current structuring of human society are manipulated, misled or coerced (in many ways*) into believing the lies that some action to fight many of those specific causes of suffering and injustice is a threat to them, or will cause suffering and injustice to them*; and sometimes even mentioning many of those specific causes of suffering and injustice in some contexts (as well as taking some types of action to eliminate those) can divide people and set people against each other in competition; so sometimes, in some contexts, even mentioning those particular causes of suffering and injustice (as well as taking some types of action to address those) can actually exacerbate those causes of suffering and injustice; and in order to fight causes of suffering and injustice like those in the most effective ways, it could possibly be useful in something like this to try and deal with the underlying problems with or in the current structuring which cause people to see action to fight those particular causes of suffering and injustice (or sometimes even any mention of those) as a threat to them (or which cause people to be divided and set against each other in competition by even any mention of those particular causes of suffering and injustice in some contexts, as well as by some action to eliminate those), and which also cause and allow those particular causes of suffering and injustice to start with (as well as causing and allowing so much other suffering and injustice in many other ways), before mentioning causes of suffering and injustice like those specifically (in something like this) for the moment (and again hopefully the text on this website outlines some of the ways in which this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge could be useful for dealing with underlying problems like those, though, again, if there are more effective ways of dealing with underlying problems like those, this would support those ways; and again this obviously supports all the different kinds of action that are necessary to deal with those underlying problems in the most effective ways). No one should feel threatened by this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge, as its purpose is obviously to maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… . Depending on what levels of causation you’re defining causes of suffering and injustice on (and other similar factors), within the current structuring of human society no causes of suffering and injustice are addressed enough in the most effective ways (according to how, again, in order for ways of fighting suffering and injustice to be the most effective ways, they need to be ways which don’t cause other suffering and injustice even indirectly…); and again part of the purpose of this is to make enough space for people to draw enough attention to all of those different causes of suffering and injustice specifically (in far better ways than can be done here for many reasons), and to make enough space for enough action to fight all of those different causes of suffering and injustice (enough) in the most effective ways, or to help ensure that all of human society is primarily devoted to doing that (or to help make it the priority of human society to do that), in ways which don’t divide people and set people against each other in competition. And because there’s obviously such a massive number of different specific causes of suffering and injustice (which can be articulated in so many different ways) which it’s so important to mention specifically in so many contexts, it’s possibly not useful to try and mention all of them specifically in all the necessary detail (and all the ways they can be articulated) in something like this, or it’s possibly better to again just refer to all of those specific causes of suffering and injustice in general in something like this (by just using the phrase ‘all the different causes of suffering and injustice’). And again, underlying problems in the current structuring like those which this aims to contribute to eliminating, possibly at least indirectly cause, allow or exacerbate all of those specific causes of suffering and injustice*, and prevent enough from being done to fight causes of suffering and injustice like those*; and in order to fight all of those specific causes of suffering and injustice in the most effective ways, it’s possibly necessary to eliminate those underlying problems in the current structuring*.
At various points in the text on this site (including in the text of the ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge itself), certain ‘amounts’ of suffering and injustice, as well as certain ‘amounts’ of well-being, happiness and fulfilment, are referred to (along with, for example, the need to communicate how much worse the amounts of suffering and injustice will be if people can’t change certain social structures, systems and behaviours fast enough), and there obviously may not be universally-understood units of measurement for amounts of suffering and injustice or for amounts of well-being, happiness and fulfilment, etc, but it’s obviously still potentially possible to communicate amounts of suffering and injustice or amounts of well-being, happiness and fulfilment, etc, in many different ways or different forms of language which different people can understand.
It could be good to also bring up here near the beginning of this page that the main reason why there are no references or bibliographies on the pages of this site, where certain facts are mentioned, and where, in certain customs or conventions, it might be expected that there would be references and bibliographies, is that those facts (mentioned on the pages of this site) can be verified in or by so many different sources in peer-reviewed science, that it would be ridiculous to try and list all of those sources; and it could be misleading to just write just a few (or even just one) of those sources, as that could imply that those few sources are the only sources (or that that one source is the only source) which those facts can be verified in or by; while those facts (mentioned on pages of this site) are not publicised or exposed anywhere near enough within the current structuring of society, it’s still fairly easy to find sources which those facts can be verified in or by, if you search, for example, in the work of different scientific organisations and charities or NGOs who work in the relevant areas (as long as that work is peer-reviewed); and part of the purpose of this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge is obviously to ensure that people or groups who have the most control over any (controllable) influences (which have the most influence on people’s thought, behaviour, values, aspirations and consciousness) publicise and expose facts like those enough, and publicise and expose enough how those facts can be verified in or by so many sources in peer-reviewed science.
And for various reasons, some of the sentences on the pages of this site (particularly in the text of the ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge itself) possibly might be fairly long and convoluted, but while some grammatical rules might be stretched or bent in some of those sentences (and some grammatical rules might be used slightly creatively and flexibly in some of them), grammatical rules aren’t completely broken in them; and those sentences obviously aren’t impossible to understand when thinking about them with grammatical logic, or when applying grammatical logic and rules to understanding them, and so on. And in case it’s not clear, in the text of the ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge, some phrases or clauses in the later parts of some sentences, which are written out in full near the beginning of the text, are replaced with ellipses in other sentences further on in the text (so that not so much more text is repeated).
Also for various reasons, this website deliberately isn’t flashy or polished, deliberately has quite a simple design, deliberately isn’t meant to be like so much advertising, or deliberately isn’t meant to manipulatively draw people in, etc.
The text on the pages of this website obviously needs a lot of editing, and is obviously incomplete along with being unfinished (for reasons which are mentioned near the end of the page on this site titled ‘some more explanation’, in the section in slightly smaller writing), or obviously needs so much more to be added to it, but hopefully what’s written on this site still gives enough of an outline of some of the reasons why something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge could be useful (or could be a useful step) for fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways… (and making all of that the priority of human society), and hopefully the gist of it is clear enough. If you read any of this and find mistakes or inconsistencies, etc, please get in touch to say what they are.
What’s written on this site obviously massively simplifies a lot of the issues that are written about here, but it’s still applicable to those issues.
And pretty much all of what’s written on the pages of this site is fairly obvious, but it’s also fairly obvious that, within the current structuring of human society, pretty much all of what’s written on the pages of this site (which is fairly obvious) isn’t acknowledged and acted on enough.
Again this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge obviously supports and encourages all action to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, but as long as only such comparatively small numbers of people in the world are (for different reasons*) able or free to collaborate globally as well as locally to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world (and the underlying social structural (including political, economic and ideological structural), systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice) or to maximise benefit for people/humankind (globally as well as locally), humankind/we will:
– obviously never get far enough in overcoming and eliminating or fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world, or in maximising well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone;
– probably never be able to overcome and eliminate or end such massive causes of human suffering and injustice as poverty, war or ecocide (in order to maximise benefit for everyone/humankind in the most effective ways);
– probably never be able to do enough to help or save people suffering from certain illnesses/diseases, or to do enough to cure or prevent many illnesses and diseases;
– probably not be able to prevent the even worse amounts of human suffering and injustice (or even human extinction, following the extinction of possibly over a million other species) which, according to peer-reviewed science, will be caused by certain social structures, systems and behaviours within the current overall social structuring of human society that are irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without (unless we can change those social structures, systems and behaviours fast enough);
– probably never be able to do enough to stop people from harming each other in micro-level (or local-level) personal/interpersonal social interaction and relationships (as well as on macro levels, through global structural and systemic processes, etc).
And obviously interlinked with that, is how as long as only such comparatively small amounts of the resources accumulated in human society are made available to be used to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for people/humankind (or are made available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for people/humankind), humankind/we will never get far enough.
While the means of fighting suffering and injustice which are publicised and promoted most within the current structuring of human society (linked with the levels or amounts of action to fight suffering and injustice within the current structuring), are and have been effective in some areas and ways according to some criteria, those types of action (linked with those levels or amounts of action), on their own:
– obviously don’t effectively address the problems in the current structuring which cause and allow only such comparatively small numbers of people in the world to be (for different reasons*) able or free to collaborate globally as well as locally to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world (globally as well as locally) and maximise benefit for people/humankind (globally as well as locally), and only such comparatively small amounts of the resources accumulated in human society to be made available to be used to do all of that, or to be made available for humankind to collectively use to do all of that (so that those forms and amounts of action on their own obviously don’t effectively generate greater (enough) amounts of action to fight suffering and injustice in the world or maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and obviously don’t effectively generate enough action to do all of that, or don’t effectively make it the priority of human society to do all of that);
– obviously don’t effectively stop so many people from behaving or living in ways which at least indirectly cause so much suffering and injustice, or obviously don’t effectively address or change other aspects of the current structuring (or particular systems, structures and behaviours (including ways of thinking and relating to people and the world) within the current overall structuring of human society) which cause so much suffering and injustice in so many other ways, and which obviously need to be overcome in order for humankind to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone (in the most effective ways);
– obviously aren’t sufficient to overcome and eliminate or fight even the current amounts of suffering and injustice in the world, let alone the far worse amounts of human suffering and injustice that will be caused (according to peer-reviewed science) by certain social structures, systems and behaviours within the current structuring which, for example, are irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments that humankind can’t survive without (unless far more action, and far more effective action, is taken to change those structures, systems and behaviours fast enough);
– probably aren’t sufficient to prevent those even worse amounts of (human) suffering and injustice (or even human extinction, following the extinction of as many as over a million other species) that will be caused (again according to peer-reviewed science) by those structures, systems and behaviours (which are irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments that humankind can’t survive without) unless far more action (and far more effective action) is taken to change those structures, systems and behaviours fast enough.
So, linked with that, while so many people obviously show so much kindness and love within the current structuring of human society (by, for example, doing so much to fight suffering and injustice or to help people in need), that action which that kindness and love motivates people to take (within the current structuring), on its own, also:
– obviously doesn’t effectively address the problems in the current structuring which cause and allow only such comparatively small numbers of people in the world to be (for different reasons*) able or free to collaborate globally as well as locally to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world (globally as well as locally) and maximise benefit for people/humankind (globally as well as locally), and only such comparatively small amounts of the resources accumulated in human society to be made available to be used to do all of that, or to be made available for humankind to collectively use to do all of that (so that that action on its own obviously doesn’t effectively generate greater (enough) amounts of action to fight suffering and injustice in the world or maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and obviously doesn’t effectively generate enough action to do all of that, or doesn’t effectively make it the priority of human society to do all of that);
– obviously doesn’t effectively stop so many people from behaving or living in ways which at least indirectly cause so much suffering and injustice, or obviously doesn’t effectively address or change other aspects of the current structuring (or particular systems, structures and behaviours (including ways of thinking and relating to people and the world) within the current overall structuring of human society) which cause so much suffering and injustice in so many other ways, and which obviously need to be overcome in order for humankind to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone (in the most effective ways);
– obviously isn’t sufficient to overcome and elimiate or fight even the current amounts of suffering and injustice in the world, let alone the far worse amounts of human suffering and injustice that will be caused (according to peer-reviewed science) by certain social structures, systems and behaviours within the current structuring which, for example, are irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments that humankind can’t survive without (unless far more action, and far more effective action, is taken to change those structures, systems and behaviours fast enough);
– probably isn’t sufficient to prevent those even worse amounts of (human) suffering and injustice (or even human extinction, following the extinction of as many as over a million other species) that will be caused (again according to peer-reviewed science) by those structures, systems and behaviours (which are irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments that humankind can’t survive without) unless far more action (and far more effective action) is taken to change those structures, systems and behaviours fast enough.
So many people within the current structuring obviously devote so much intelligence, ingenuity, creativity, imagination, skill, talent, time and energy (etc) to types of work and activity which can be empirically and rationally verified to:
– not fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people or humankind in the most effective ways;
– obstruct other people from having self-determination and autonomy (self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy);
– at least indirectly so much cause suffering and injustice in so many ways;
– not benefit people engaging in those types of work and activity anywhere nearly as effectively as living or behaving in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways which are outlined in the text of the ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge (i.e. living or behaving in ways which consist in benefiting or helping other people (or each other) as much as is potentially possible… in ways which again can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be the most effective ways (without benefiting any person, people or group(s) at the expense of any other person, people or group/groups (including themselves/ourselves), insofar as no one even indirectly causes any suffering and injustice to anyone else, & so on) and forming the best human relationships, community and solidarity potentially possible… in those most effective ways (in harmony (as far as is potentially possible…) with the natural world (or the rest of it), as well as each other), or in uniting in diversity to (collectively) do as much as is potentially possible to collectively eliminate or fight (all the different causes of) suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone (or each other) in those most effective ways…).
Until pretty much all people can unite in diversity to make it the primary aim and absolute priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in those most effective ways (ways which can be empirically and rationally verified as far as possible to be most effective)…, we’re probably never going to get far enough (in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…); again, till the social (including political, economic and ideological) structures, systems, and behaviours (including ways of thinking and relating to people and the world) which cause and allow the situation in which only such comparatively small amounts of the resources accumulated in human society are made available to be used to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for people/humankind (or are made available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind), and which cause and allow the situation in which only such comparatively small numbers of people in the world are (for different reasons*) able or free to collaborate globally as well as locally to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind (and which cause and allow so much suffering and injustice in so many other ways*), are overcome or eliminated, we’ll obviously never get far enough*. And because there are obviously so many different causes of suffering and injustice on so many different levels of causation (including the underlying social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice), and because they are so complex and varied, we/humankind can possibly only get far enough in fighting all of those different causes of suffering and injustice and in maximising benefit for everyone if pretty much all people unite in diversity and mobilise together to do all of that (to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and to make it the priority of human society to do all of that…), and if pretty much all people are free to or able to fully apply their/our intelligence, ingenuity, creativity, imagination, skills, talents, potentials for reflexivity and rationality, time and energy (and so on) to doing all of that… (again together with ensuring (in the most effective ways) that all people have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy…); and the social (including political, economic and ideological) structures, systems and behaviours which cause and allow the situation in which only such comparatively small numbers of people in the world are (for different reasons*) able or free to collaborate globally as well as locally to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind (globally as well as locally), and which cause and allow the situation in which only such comparatively small amounts of the resources accumulated in human society are made available to be used to do all of that, or are made available for humankind to collectively use to do all of that (and which cause and allow so much suffering and injustice in so many other ways*), are so ingrained and pervasive in and throughout almost every area and aspect of human life and society, that we can possibly only change, eliminate or overcome those structures and systems enough (to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…) if again pretty much all people unite in diversity and mobilise together to do all of that…, and if again pretty much all people are free to or able to fully apply their intelligence, ingenuity, creativity, imagination, skills, talents, potentials for reflexivity and rationality, time and energy (and so on) to doing all of that… (again together with ensuring (in the most effective ways) that all people have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy). And the massive diversity of different contexts in the world and human society means that, in order for all the different causes of suffering and injustice to be fought in the most effective ways and for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways, all people obviously need to have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy. Obstructions to people’s self-determination and autonomy (self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy) can obviously be causes of suffering and injustice; and again because there are also so many different obstructions to people’s self-determination and autonomy (self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy) on so many different levels of causation (including the underlying social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice), which are so complex and varied, and because the underlying social structural, systemic and behavioural obstructions to people’s self-determination and autonomy (…) are so ingrained and pervasive…, humankind/we can only get far enough in ensuring (in those most effective ways) that all people have self-determination and autonomy (insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy) if again pretty much all people unite in diversity to do all of that… . Obviously it maybe can’t be proven at the moment that humankind can collectively overcome and eliminate all the different causes of suffering and injustice (that are caused and allowed within and by the current social structuring) in order to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways… (or that humankind can overcome and eliminate all the social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice (in order to maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways), and to change the current social structuring to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…), but again all the arguments that humankind can’t do all of that are arguments which cannot be proven, and if all people unite in diversity to do all of that and are free to or able to fully apply their intelligence, ingenuity, creativity, imagination, skills, talents, potentials for reflexivity and rationality, time and energy (and so on) to doing all of that…, then it potentially could be possible, and if there’s even the slightest chance that humankind/we could do that, surely we need to try? There are obviously circularities in all of this, but if humankind/we makes/make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, that would mean, by definition, that all people will be uniting in diversity and mobilising together to find and implement the most effective ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone…, and that all people will be free to or able to fully apply their/our intelligence, ingenuity, creativity, imagination, skills, talents, potentials for reflexivity and rationality, time and energy (and so on) to finding and implementing the most effective ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone, or for themselves/ourselves/others, each other and everyone (again together with ensuring (in the most effective ways) that all people have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy)*; if humankind/we makes/make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, that would mean, by definition, that all the resources accumulated in human society will be made available to be used to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight all the causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone (or will be made available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone… (for themselves/ourselves/others, each other and everyone). Within the current structuring of human society there’s obviously massive inequality in the distribution of power as well as resources (or some people obviously have far more power than most others within the current structuring), but there are obviously many different forms and sources of power, and in so many ways, the more people who unite in diversity and mobilise together to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, the more power will obviously generated for doing all of that and for the people striving to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, for everyone… . The inequality in the distribution of power within the current structuring is obviously a cause of suffering and injustice in itself, which possibly can only be fought effectively enough if again pretty much all people unite in diversity to overcome and eliminate that cause of suffering and injustice (as well as to overcome and eliminate or fight all the other causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…); and the social structural and systemic causes of the inequality in the distribution of power within the current structuring are possibly also so ingrained and pervasive in and throughout almost every area and aspect of human life and society, that we can possibly only change, eliminate or overcome those structures and systems enough (to overcome and eliminate those causes of suffering and injustice, and to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…) if again pretty much all people unite in diversity and mobilise together to do all of that… .
Possibly pretty much all people would agree that it should be the priority of human society to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, and two interlinked factors which get in the way of all people actually making all of that the priority of human society (or actually uniting in diversity to make all of that the priority of human society)…, are that within the current structuring so many people are misled or coerced into believing that it’s impossible to make all of that the priority of human society (or that it’s not possible for humankind/all people to unite in diversity to make all of that the priority of human society)…, and that not enough other people would join in making all of that the priority of human society (or that not enough people would want to do all of that, or be motivated to do all of that)…; and partly as a result of those two interlinked factors, so many people within the current structuring are misled or coerced into believing that it’s not even worth trying to make all of that the priority of human society… . While again it maybe can’t be proven at the moment that humankind can (unite in diversity to) make all of that the priority of human society…, again all the arguments that humankind can’t do all of that… obviously also can’t be proven (or rely on premises which can’t be proven), and there’s far more evidence to refute those negative arguments than there is to corroborate them (and the main thing in that sense or context that could guarantee that we/humankind can’t do all of that…, would be if humankind/we didn’t even try). For reasons like those outlined briefly above, it might only be possible to make all of that the priority of human society… if pretty much all people unite in diversity and mobilise together to do all of that…, and so many people obviously are misled or coerced into believing that it’s impossible to do all of that partly as a result of how so many people are misled or coerced into believing that not enough people would join in doing all of that or would want (or be motivated) to do all of that, but again it obviously can’t be proven that not enough other people would join in doing all of that or would be motivated to do all of that; and while many different forms of action are needed to fulfil the following purpose, if enough people (or all people?) show each other (or confirm or declare to each other) that they/we agree it should be the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and that they/we pledge that they/we would join in making that the priority of human society… (possibly showing, confirming or declaring those things to each other in a way like signing something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge), it could hopefully at least contribute to making it seem more possible to do all of that…, or making it seem more possible that humankind can do all of that…; and while again many different forms of action are needed to fulfil the following two purposes (as is touched on further on), that could in itself hopefully at least contribute to helping facilitate the necessary uniting in diversity and mobilisation of enough critical masses of people (or all people) to make all of that the priority of human society…; and it could also in itself hopefully at least contribute to helping make enough space(s) in the mainstreams of (or all of) human society for all people to be able to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to do all of that…; and as again there are obviously many different sources and forms of power, the more people who make another visible record of their/our support for making all of that the priority of human society… and their/our pledge to join in doing all of that… (possibly in a way like signing something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge), the more power could be generated for people who seek to unite in diversity and mobilise together with (all) other people to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, or the more power could be generated for people who call for all people to join in doing all of that… (including people with more power and resources*), and the more powerful that call for all of that can become, though again obviously so many different kinds of action are needed for that purpose*. Possibly the more people who show, declare or confirm that they/we would join in making all of that the priority of human society…, the more possible it will seem (or be), and the more it can contribute to motivating or encouraging people or each other (or everyone?) to actually unite in diversity to do all of that…; the only way that all of that (and making all of that the priority of human society…), which is needed if humankind is (or we are) to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, can happen is obviously if we (or pretty much all people) ourselves actually collectively make it happen, or if pretty much all people unite in diversity and mobilise together to make it happen, and if pretty much all people create enough space(s) and social environments in the mainstreams (or all) of human society for all people to collectively find exactly how we can make it happen (and to collectively implement those ways of making it happen); again obviously this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge might not be a good way of going about trying to contribute to facilitating and encouraging that, but again it could be useful for there to be something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge to contribute to facilitating or encouraging that uniting in diversity, that collective mobilisation, and that creation of those spaces, etc, to find and implement the most effective ways of doing all of that… . Also, within the current structuring, so many people obviously have the will, desire or intention to do more to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people (or everyone) in the most effective ways… (and to make all of that the priority of human society), but (as is alluded to very briefly above) are unable to for many different reasons within the current structuring*; within the current structuring, that will, desire or intention, on its own, often obviously doesn’t have much or any effect in fulfilling that purpose; but again if people who have that will, desire and intention to do all of that (but who are unable to within the current structuring for many reasons*), can make another visible record of that will, desire and intention to do all of that (possibly in a way like signing something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge), it could possibly cause that will, desire and intention to do all of that to have more effect or impact (than it does currently) in generating more power for all of that and for those people with that will, desire and intention to do all of that, and in making more space(s) in the mainstreams of (or all of) human society for all people to be able to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to do that… .
The mainstream and dominant discourses in the current structuring of human society are obviously so far away from where they would need to be to have the purpose of finding or empirically and rationally verifying (as far as possible) what the most effective ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (and make that the priority of human society); the entire framework which the mainstream and dominant discourses take place in, are carried out in or are confined to (in the current structuring), is obviously so far away from where it would need to be in order for humankind to be able to collectively find the most effective ways to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (and make that the priority of human society). Even the mainstream and dominant discourses on how people should live or behave (and on fighting suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for people), and the frameworks which those discourses take place in, are carried out in or are confined to (in the current structuring) are so far away from being focused on fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways (and making that the priority of human society). The idea or possibility of taking the amounts and kinds of action that can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be necessary in order for as much as (can be verified like that to be) possible to be done to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world (primarily social structures, systems and behaviours which can be verified like that to cause and allow the most suffering and injustice) and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (and in order to make it the priority of human society to do all of that…), is hardly even presented as an option within those dominant and mainstream frameworks and discourses within the current structuring, or is hardly given any serious consideration or space (or is hardly taken or presented seriously at all) within those dominant and mainstream frameworks and discourses within the current structuring. What’s presented in those dominant and mainstream frameworks and discourses (or in the influences which can be empirically and rationally verified as far as possible to have the most influence on people…) within the current structuring, as being what’s most important, what matters most, and what people should value most or aspire to most, is obviously completely unrelated to taking the amounts and kinds of action that can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be necessary to do as much as possible to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (or to make all of that the priority of human society…). Many people within the current structuring obviously think critically within the confines of frameworks which those mainstream and dominant discourses (on those issues) are confined to in the current structuring, but obviously don’t think critically about those frameworks, or how to change those frameworks so that they can be focused on fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways (and making that the priority of human society). Or within the current structuring, many people think critically about options within the current structuring (which don’t significantly change that structuring), but don’t think critically about the current structuring itself, or how to change it in order to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways. One of the problems with those frameworks (which is touched on above) that those dominant or mainstream discourses are confined to, is that one of the notions which those frameworks are based on is that it’s not possible for humankind to change the current structuring to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, but again all the arguments that it’s not possible for humankind to do that are all arguments which can’t be proven, or rely on premises which can’t be proven, and there’s far more evidence to refute those negative arguments than there is to corroborate them. At the same time as how pretty much all people would probably agree that it should be the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways, so many people are misled or coerced within the current structuring into believing:
– that they can’t or shouldn’t hope for much more to be done to fight suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, than is already being done within the current structuring;
– that they should think that the current levels or amounts of action to fight suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone are satisfactory and acceptable;
– that it’s weird (and even unacceptable) to try and make it possible for far more action to be taken to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, than is taken within the current structuring (or to try and make it possible for far more effective action to be taken to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone, than is taken within the current structuring);
– that it’s normal and acceptable to not try to (and to not be motivated to) make it possible for far more action to be taken to fight suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone, than is taken within the current structuring…, or that it’s weird and unacceptable to be motivated to take more action to do that;
– that therefore not only are the current amounts of suffering and injustice in the world acceptable and normal, but that also the even worse amounts of human suffering and injustice, or even human extinction, following the extinction of possibly over a million other species (which again, according to peer-reviewed science, will be caused by certain social structures, systems and behaviours within the current structuring of human society which are irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without, unless we can change those social structures, systems and behaviours fast enough…), are acceptable (though so many people obviously aren’t informed of how that far worse human suffering and injustice will be caused unless we can change those social structures, systems and behaviours fast enough…).
People obviously can’t let themselves/ourselves be dragged down into going along with not trying to (or not being motivated to) make it possible for far more action to be taken to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways (or to try and make it possible for far more far more effective action to be taken to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone, than is taken within the current structuring)…, and they/we obviously need to set the standards far higher. And again, though many different forms of action are needed for the following purpose, if enough people or all people can show, confirm, or declare to each other their/our support for making it the priority of human society to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and pledge that they/we would join in doing all of that (possibly showing, confirming or declaring their/our support for all of that in a way like signing and sharing something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge), it could at least contribute to shifting and changing the framework which those mainstream and dominant discourses currently take place in, are carried out in, and are confined to within the current structuring (or it could contribute to making more space(s) for people to find and implement the most effective ways to shift and change that framework…), so that those (and all) discourses can be for humankind to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (and make all of that the priority of human society); and it could at least contribute to helping ensure people aren’t dragged down into going along with not trying to (or not being motivated to) make it possible for far more to be done to fight suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… .
So many people within the current structuring of human society obviously aren’t informed enough about (or are diverted from) how much suffering and injustice can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be caused (at least indirectly) and allowed within and by the current social structuring (including political, economic and ideological structuring) of human society (along with how so many people within the current structuring aren’t informed enough about (or are diverted from) how much worse human suffering and injustice, and even human extinction (following the extinction of possibly over a million of other species), will, according to peer-reviewed science, be caused by certain social structures, systems and behaviours within the current overall social structuring of human society…); and so many people within the current structuring are obviously misled or coerced into believing that so many of the structures, systems and behaviours, which can be empirically and rationally verified to at least indirectly cause so much suffering and injustice, are normal and harmless or even necessary and beneficial*; or so many people within the current structuring aren’t informed enough about (or are diverted from) how much suffering and injustice is (or can be empirically and rationally verified to be) caused by structures, systems and behaviours which they are misled or coerced into believing are normal and harmless, or even necessary and beneficial*. At the same time as all that (and in some ways linked with and also causing all that*), so many people are misled or coerced (in many concealed or disguised ways, as well as more overt ways) within and by the current social structuring (including political, economic and ideological structuring) of human society, into believing that, in order to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or to maximise benefit) for themselves, they:
– need to not find and implement the most effective ways to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind (and need to allow themselves to be diverted from how much suffering and injustice is at least indirectly caused and allowed within and by the current structuring, and from how much suffering and injustice is at least in directly caused and allowed by lifestyles, behaviours and activities which so many people (possibly including themselves) engage in, conform with or adopt within the current structuring);
– need to at least indirectly harm other people or other groups and compete with other people or other groups (also in many concealed and disguised ways, as well as more obvious and overt ways), in micro-level personal/interpersonal social interaction and relationships as well as on macro levels though global structural and systemic processes, both in their close vicinity and in other parts of the world, etc (or that they need to engage in, conform with or adopt lifestyles, behaviours and activities which at least indirectly harm other people or other groups)*.
But again there’s so much evidence (for example, documented in the field of positive psychology and in different areas of the social sciences, etc) that again it’s possible for the most effective way for all people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or maximise benefit) for themselves/ourselves can (for many reasons*) potentially be for all people to live or behave in ways which consist in benefiting or helping other people, or each other, as much as is potentially possible in those most effective ways (without benefiting any person, people or group(s) at the expense of any other person, people or group/groups (including themselves/ourselves), insofar as no one causes any suffering and injustice to others even instrumentally, and so on), and in forming the best human relationships, community and solidarity potentially possible (in harmony as far as possible with the natural world (or the rest of it) as well as each other), or in uniting in diversity to (collectively) do as much as is potentially possible to collectively eliminate or fight (all the different causes of) the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other… in those most effective ways… (and that there’s no need for anyone to even instrumentally harm or compete with anyone else in order to maximise benefit for themselves/ourselves in the most effective ways*). If (all) people can acknowledge and act on that possibility that living or behaving in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways (outlined just above and in the text of the ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge) can be the most effective way for all people to (collectively) maximise benefit (or well-being, happiness and fulfilment) for themselves/ourselves (as again so much evidence shows is a possibility), all people can potentially harness or channel their/our drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves/ourselves to do all of that or to unite in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which it’s (or which it can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be) necessary for humankind to collectively take in order for humankind to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other in the most effective ways…, as much as is potentially possible… (and make all of that the priority of human society…), taking into account that in order for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways, people’s primary intention in benefiting other people possibly can’t be to benefit themselves/ourselves, but possibly always needs to be to benefit other people in the most effective ways, with any benefit to themselves/ourselves only being intended to be a secondary by-product. In order for people to maximise and maintain their/our ability or potential to do all of that (‘to do as much as possible to benefit or help other people, or each other’… and all of that) in the long term, people (who can do these things) obviously need to do certain things to look after themselves/ourselves and their/our own health, etc, and if it’s a cause any suffering and injustice for no one to do anything to look after themselves/ourselves and their health, etc, then (because this calls for people to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice…) this obviously calls people (who can) to eliminate that cause of suffering and injustice, by doing what’s necessary to look after themselves/ourselves and their/our own health, etc, in order to maximise and maintain their/our ability or potential to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other in the most effective ways… (and make that the priority of human society). There’s so much evidence (again, for example, documented in the field of positive psychology and in different areas of the social sciences, etc) that ‘human nature’ (or ‘the human character’) is malleable, that the way humans behave is influenced so much by the environment (including the social environment) they/we are in, and that humans are not intrinsically or ‘naturally’ selfish and competitive in ways which harm others; partly because of what’s outlined above, if the necessary environment (including social environment) is created, it’s obviously possible for any selfishness and competitiveness which people have to be harnessed or channelled to motivate people to maximise benefit for other people, each other, or everyone, in the most effective ways…, and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world in the most effective ways… (and unite in diversity to make all of that the priority of human society…). Again there are many reasons* why living or behaving in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above… can be the most effective way for people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves*, and one factor in that which it might be good to mention here is that humans can obviously be social beings who can derive feelings of well-being, happiness and fulfilment within themselves/ourselves from benefiting or helping other people, or each other, as much as is potentially possible in those most effective ways (without benefiting any person, people or group(s) at the expense of any other person, people or group/groups (including themselves/ourselves), insofar as no one causes any suffering and injustice to others even instrumentally, and so on), and from forming the best human relationships, community and solidarity potentially possible (in harmony as far as possible with the natural world (or the rest of it) as well as each other), or from uniting in diversity to (collectively) do as much as is potentially possible to collectively eliminate or fight (all the different causes of) the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other… in those most effective ways…; or, humans can obviously experience feelings of well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or benefit) when they/we do all of that (or feelings of well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or benefit) can obviously be generated within people when they/we do all of that).
It might be useful to clarify here some things that are stated in the paragraph just above. Obviously so many people are forced within and by the current social structuring into situations in which, in order for them to even get the resources that they need in order to survive and in order to try and benefit themselves in some ways, they do need to at least instrumentally harm other people*, but when it’s stated above that ‘so many people are misled or coerced … within and by the current social structuring … of human society, into believing that, in order to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or to maximise benefit) for themselves, they need to at least instrumentally harm other people or other groups and compete with other people or other groups…’, it partly means that so many people are misled or coerced … within and by the current social structuring … of human society, into believing that it’s not possible for there to be social structurings (or that it’s not possible for humankind to create social structurings) in which no one needs to even indirectly harm other people or other groups and compete with other people or other groups in order to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or benefit) for themselves/ourselves…*; again all the arguments that it’s not possible for humankind to create such social structurings are obviously all arguments which can’t be proven…; it can’t be proven that it’s not possible for humankind to create social structurings in which it’s possible for the most effective way for all people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or benefit) for themselves/ourselves to be (for many reasons*) for all people to live or behave in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above (to live or behave in ways which consist in benefiting or helping other people, or each other, as much as is potentially possible in those most effective ways (without benefiting any person, people or group(s) at the expense of any other person, people or group/groups (including themselves/ourselves), insofar as no one causes any suffering and injustice to others even instrumentally, and so on), and in forming the best human relationships, community and solidarity potentially possible (in harmony as far as possible with the natural world (or the rest of it) as well as each other), or in uniting in diversity to (collectively) do as much as is potentially possible to collectively eliminate or fight (all the different causes of) the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other… in those most effective ways…)…; so that again all people can potentially harness or channel their/our drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves/ourselves to do all of that or to unite in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action which it’s (or which it can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be) necessary for humankind to collectively take in order for humankind to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other in the most effective ways…, as much as is potentially possible… (and make all of that the priority of human society…); and all people can potentially harness or channel their/our drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves/ourselves to unite in diversity to collectively create social structurings in which all of that can be possible (again taking into account that in order for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways, people’s primary intention in benefiting other people possibly can’t be to benefit themselves/ourselves, but possibly always needs to be to benefit other people in the most effective ways, with any benefit to themselves/ourselves only being intended to be a secondary by-product). Also, it’s stated in the paragraph just above that ‘so many people are misled or coerced … within and by the current social structuring … of human society, into believing that, in order to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or to maximise benefit) for themselves, they need to … engage in, conform with or adopt lifestyles, behaviours and activities which at least instrumentally harm other people or other groups’, but also that ‘so many people within the current structuring are obviously misled or coerced into believing that so many of the … behaviours, which can be empirically and rationally verified to at least instrumentally cause so much suffering and injustice, are normal and harmless or even necessary and beneficial’, or that ‘so many people within the current structuring aren’t informed enough about (or are diverted from) how much suffering and injustice is (or can be empirically and rationally verified to be) caused by … behaviours which they are misled or coerced into believing are normal and harmless, or even necessary and beneficial’; and that’s partly referring to how, regardless of whether or not people are aware of or informed of how much suffering and injustice is at least instrumentally caused by engaging in, conforming with or adopting certain lifestyles, behaviours and activities, so many people are misled or coerced … within or by the current structuring … into believing that in order to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves, they need to still engage in, conform with or adopt those lifestyles, behaviours and activities (which at least indirectly cause so much suffering and injustice) anyway, so that it may be the case that many people who engage in, conform with or adopt those lifestyles, behaviours and activities don’t necessarily fully intend to cause suffering and injustice by engaging in, conforming with or adopting those lifestyles, behaviours and activities (but are at least instrumentally causing so much suffering and injustice regardless); so many people are misled or coerced … within or by the current structuring … into believing that in order to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves, they:
– need to not find out, or need to not empirically and rationally verify (as far as possible), how much suffering and injustice is caused (even indirectly) by lifestyles, behaviours and activities which they engage in, conform with or adopt;
– need to not stop engaging in, conforming with or adopting lifestyles, behaviours and activities which can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to at least instrumentally cause suffering and injustice including by obstructing other people from having self-determination and autonomy (insofar as no one obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy)…;
– need to not unite in diversity with (all) other people to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be necessary in order to change the current structuring to make it possible for all people (including themselves/ourselves) to be able to live and behave in ways which don’t cause suffering and injustice (even instrumentally) and in ways which consist in collectively fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone (including themselves/ourselves) in the most effective ways (or need to not unite in diversity with (all) other people to … change the current structuring to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…);
– need to not unite in diversity with (all) other people to collectively empirically and rationally verify (as far as possible) what ways of living and behaving consist in collectively fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and making all of that the priority of human society (and need to not subsequently live and behave in mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways like those, or like those outlined earlier);
– need to not unite in diversity with (all) other people to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be necessary in order to for humankind to collectively find (as described above) and implement the most effective ways to collectively overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (and make all of that the priority of human society).
And there’s also so much evidence (again, for example, documented in the field of positive psychology and in different areas of the social sciences, etc), to show that when people consume bigger amounts of and more types of resources than they/we need in order to survive or live (or when people engage in, conform with and adopt lifestyles, behaviours and activities which entail or consist in consuming those bigger amounts of and more types of resources…), it doesn’t bring them/us well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or benefit them/us) anywhere nearly as effectively as behaving or living in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above… (which are most conducive to fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, or which can be the most effective ways for all people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves (or each other and everyone), by definition), and it doesn’t benefit them/us effectively at all. And peer-reviewed science clearly shows that when people consume (far) bigger amounts of and more types of resources than they/we need to survive or live, it at least instrumentally irreversibly destroys the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without* (or which humankind can’t access enough food and fresh water, etc, without*), and at least instrumentally causes suffering and injustice to people in many other ways*. There’s so much evidence that the amounts and types of resources which people need to consume in order to engage in ways of living or behaving like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above… (which are most conducive to fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and which can be the most effective ways for all people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves, or each other and everyone), aren’t significantly different (in terms of any negative impact that consuming those amounts and types of resources has on people and the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without) than the amounts and types of resources which people need to consume in order to survive or live, by definition* (and those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living or behaving outlined above…, which consuming those sustainable amounts and types of resources enables people to potentially engage in, obviously also, by definition, have a positive impact on people and the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without, or benefit those in the most effective ways*). Obviously within the current structuring, many people have far bigger amounts of and more types of resources than they need in order to survive or live, and only such comparatively small amounts of the resources accumulated in human society are made available to be used to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for people/humankind (or are made available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind), and it should be stated that within the current structuring so many people (no matter how hard-working, intelligent, skilled or talented (etc) they are) are denied access to the resources which they cannot survive without; if people have far more resources than they need in order to survive or live, it can obviously give those people a greater opportunity to benefit or help other people (…) and fight suffering and injustice in the most effective ways… (or to engage in some of those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above…) in the immediate future, as they can obviously make their excess resources (amounts and types of resources which they don’t need in order to survive and live or behave in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above) available for humankind (including those people who are denied access to the resources they can’t survive without) to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to maximise benefit for everyone (including themselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice, globally and in their own contexts, insofar as no one obstructs anyone else from doing the same (or they can make those excess resources available for other people to use to also engage in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above…); possibly the most effective ways for people to use their excess resources in order to fight suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind… (or to engage in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above…, which again can be the most effective ways for people to maximise benefit for themselves…) can be to make enough of those excess resources available as soon as possible for humankind (including those who are denied access to the resources they can’t survive without) to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to maximise benefit for everyone (including themselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice, globally and in their own contexts, insofar as no one obstructs anyone else from doing the same; and as engaging in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above… (like doing as much as possible to benefit or help other people…) can again be the most effective ways for people to maximise benefit for themselves, if people have more resources than they need in order to survive or live, in the immediate future those people therefore also have a greater opportunity to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves; so, according to some of this argument, if people accumulate and possess far bigger amounts and more types of resources than they need in order to survive or live, it might seem to benefit them effectively as it means they can do more to benefit or help other people and can engage more in those other mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above… (in the immediate future), but because again possibly the most effective ways those people can use those excess resources (amounts and types of resources which they don’t need in order to survive or live) to fight suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for people/humankind in the most effective ways (and therefore potentially to maximise benefit for themselves in the most effective ways, or to engage in mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living or behaving like those outlined above), is to make them available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice and to maximise benefit for everyone as soon as possible (including by making them available for people who are denied access to the amounts and types of resources which they need in order to survive, to use participate in finding and implementing those most effective ways to maximise benefit for everyone (including themselves) in their own contexts and globally or to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in their own contexts and globally), if people continue to possess those excess amounts of resources (instead of making those resources available for all that) it obviously doesn’t benefit or help other people in the most effective ways (and so doesn’t constitute engaging in those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above…) and so again it doesn’t effectively bring well-being, happiness and fulfilment to (or doesn’t effectively benefit) those people continuing to possess those excess resources; and if people are using their time and energy (etc) trying to accumulate more resources than they need to survive or live (so that they can then later make them available for humankind to collectively use to maximise benefit for everyone…), they’re obviously not using that time and energy (etc) to benefit or help others in the most effective ways, or to engage in those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above…, and so it again also doesn’t effectively bring well-being, happiness and fulfilment to (or doesn’t effectively benefit) those people trying to accumulate those excess resources; if all people are uniting in diversity to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other (and make that the priority of human society), and if all people are making all the appropriate resources accumulated in human society (obviously including all the resources they’ve individually accumulated themselves) available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to maximise benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice, globally and in their own contexts, the amounts and types of resources which people need to accumulate and possess in order for people to do as much as possible to (or to maximise and maintain their ability, capacity or potential to) benefit or help other people in the most effective ways (or to engage in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above…) in the long term, again aren’t significantly different to the amounts and types of resources which people need in order to survive or live; and so again (again if all people are uniting in diversity to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other (and make that the priority of human society), and if all people are making all the appropriate resources accumulated in human society (obviously including all the resources they’ve individually accumulated themselves) available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to maximise benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice, globally and in their own contexts), the amounts and types of resources people need to accumulate, possess or consume in order to maximise benefit for themselves/ourselves in the most effective ways (or to engage in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above…) therefore aren’t significantly different to the amounts and types of resources which they/we need in order to survive or live*.
Peer-reviewed science also shows that if people stop irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without, those ecosystems and environments can provide sufficient amounts and types of resources to sustain an even bigger human population than there is currently, or can potentially provide enough resources for an even bigger human population than there is currently to not only survive or live, but also to potentially engage in ways of living and behaving like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above… (which are most conducive to fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and which can be the most effective ways for all people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves, or each other and everyone), insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else from doing the same and no one consumes bigger amounts and more types of resources than they need to in order to live and behave in ways like those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above…; so partly as a result of that, if people stop irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without (and as long as no one consumes bigger amounts and more types of resources than they/we need to in order to live and behave in ways like those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above), those ecosystems and environments can potentially provide sufficient amounts and types of resources for humankind to be able to effectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice which are caused or allowed within and by the current structuring of human society, or to at least to fight all those causes of suffering and injustice far more effectively than they are fought within the current structuring; or, also as a result of that, in a kind of structuring of human society which it’s potentially possible to create*, all people (including in an even bigger human population than there is today) could potentially obtain, access or get (from those ecosystems and environments) and consume all the resources which they/we need in order to survive or live and to engage in ways of living or behaving like those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above (which can be the most effective ways for all people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves, or each other and everyone…) without irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without; or, in a kind of structuring of human society which it’s potentially possible to create*, there would potentially be no need for anyone (including in an even bigger population than there is currently) to irreversibly destroy the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without, in order to access and consume the resources they/we need in order to survive or live and to potentially engage in ways of living or behaving like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above (which are most conducive to fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and which can be the most effective ways for all people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves, or each other and everyone…); in a kind of structuring of human society which it’s potentially possible to create*, humankind (including with an even bigger human population than there is today) could potentially obtain, access or get (from those ecosystems and environments) and consume all the resources which they/we need in order to effectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice which are caused or allowed within and by the current structuring of human society, without irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without (or, in a kind of structuring of human society which it’s potentially possible to create*, there would potentially be no need for humankind (including with an even bigger population than there is currently) to irreversibly destroy the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without, in order to access and consume the resources they/we need in order to effectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice which are caused or allowed within and by the current structuring of human society). Within the current structuring of human society, so many people are obviously denied access to means though which all people could potentially obtain, access or get from those ecosystems and environments (without irreversibly destroying those ecosystems and environments) the amounts and types of resources which they/we need in order to be able to potentially engage in those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above; and again it maybe can’t be proven (currently) that, with the amounts and types of resources already accumulated in human society (combined with amounts and types of resources which can be obtained, accessed or got from those ecosystems and environments (and consumed), without irreversibly destroying those ecosystems and environments), humankind can transform the structuring of human society in order to structure human society in a way that enables all people (including in an even bigger human population than there is currently) to collectively obtain, access or get from those ecosystems and environments (without irreversibly destroying those ecosystems and environments) the amounts and types of resources they/we need in order to engage in those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above, but again it obviously isn’t possible to prove that humankind can’t transform human society like that with the amounts and types of resources already accumulated in human society (combined with those other resources which can be obtained, accessed or got without irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without), or again all the arguments that it’s not possible for humankind to transform human society like that (with those amounts and types of resources) are all arguments which cannot be proven. And linked with all of that (and partly because of all of that), in the kind of structuring of human society which it’s potentially possible to create*, in order for any person, any people, or any group(s) to fight any suffering and injustice (which they or others face) in the most effective ways, and to maximise benefit for themselves or others in those most effective ways, there’s no need for any person, any people or any group(s) to obstruct any other person, people or group(s) from doing the same, or there’s no need for any person, people or groups to even instrumentally cause any suffering and injustice for any other person, people or groups (or to even instrumentally harm any others), insofar as no others even instrumentally obstruct (or no one obstructs) anyone else from doing the same, and no others even instrumentally cause (or no one causes) any suffering and injustice for any others, and so on; again within the current structuring of human society, not only individuals, but also different groups (which people get divided into within the current structuring), are misled or coerced into believing that they need at least instrumentally harm other groups or compete with other groups in order to maximise benefit for themselves, but again, linked with what’s written above (and partly because of what’s written above), as so much evidence shows, all people and groups can benefit themselves/ourselves far more effectively if they/we unite in diversity globally to find and implement the most effective ways to maximise benefit for everyone or each other globally and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice globally, insofar as no other groups are even indirectly causing any suffering and injustice for other groups or obstructing other groups from maximising benefit for themselves and others, insofar as they in turn aren’t obstructing others from doing the same, and so on; in the kind of social structuring it’s potentially possible to create*, all people’s or groups’ action to fight any suffering and injustice (which they or others face) in the most effective ways, and to maximise benefit for themselves or others in those most effective ways, can potentially contribute to (and not obstruct) all other people’s or groups’ action to do the same (again insofar as no others even indirectly obstruct (or no one obstructs) any others from doing the same, and so on). And in order for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways and for all the different causes of suffering and injustice to be fought in the most effective ways, all people and all groups can possibly only seek to maximise benefit for themselves or others and fight any causes of suffering and injustice (which they or others face) by doing that in ways which don’t obstruct anyone else from doing the same (insofar as no others obstruct (or no one is obstructing) any others from doing the same, and so on). So many people are obviously misled or coerced within the current structuring into believing that, in order to maximise benefit for themselves/ourselves, they/we need to consume far bigger amounts of and more types of resources than they/we need in order to survive or live (and in order to live and behave in ways like those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above); or so many people are obviously misled or coerced within the current structuring into believing that, in order to maximise benefit for themselves/ourselves, they/we need to engage in, conform with or adopt lifestyles, behaviours and activities which consist in consuming far bigger amounts of and more types of resources than they/we need in order to survive or live (and in order to live and behave in ways like those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above); and so many people are obviously misled or coerced within the current structuring into believing that consuming those unnecessary amounts and types of resources is normal and harmless, or even necessary and beneficial generally (and at least partly because of all that, so many people within the current structuring obviously do consume far bigger amounts of and more types of resources than they/we need in order to survive or live (and in order to live and behave in ways like those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above), which not only at least indirectly causes so much suffering and injustice in many ways* (including by irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without), but also can get in the way of people living or behaving in ways like those, through which people can benefit themselves/ourselves (and obviously others) far more effectively*); so many people within the current structuring again obviously aren’t informed of how much suffering and injustice is caused by consuming those unnecessary amounts and types of resources*, and how much worse human suffering and injustice, or even human extinction (following the extinction of possibly over a million other species) according to peer-reviewed science, will be caused by people consuming those unnecessary amounts and types of resources*; so many people within the current structuring are obviously also misled or coerced into believing that, even in order to engage in ways of living or behaving like those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above, they/we need to consume far bigger amounts of and more types of resources than people actually need to in order to engage in those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving, when again the amounts and types of resources which people need to consume in order to engage in ways of living or behaving like those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above aren’t significantly different (in terms of any negative impact that consuming those amounts and types of resources has on people and the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without) than the amounts and types of resources which people need to consume in order to survive or live, by definition*. Aside from how when people consume those unnecessary/excess amounts and types of resources, it doesn’t benefit those people (who’re consume those unnecessary/excess amounts and types of resources) effectively at all, and it causes suffering and injustice in so many ways at least indirectly*, there’s so much evidence to show that when people engage in any of the other behaviours which can be empirically and rationally verified to cause suffering and injustice even indirectly, it also doesn’t benefit the people engaging in those harmful behaviours (or bring them well-being, happiness and fulfilment) anywhere nearly as effectively as living or behaving in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways of living and behaving outlined above, and it doesn’t benefit them/us effectively at all (and it again can get in the way of people living and behaving in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above, which can benefit them/us far more effectively); and that constitutes another reason why, in the kind of structuring of human society it’s potentially possible to create, in order for any person, any people, or any group to fight any suffering and injustice (which they or others face) in the most effective ways, and to maximise benefit for themselves or others in those most effective ways, there’s no need for any person, any people or any group to obstruct any others from doing the same, or to even instrumentally cause any suffering and injustice for anyone else (or even instrumentally harm any others or compete with any others), insofar as no others even instrumentally obstruct (or no one obstructs) anyone else from doing the same, and so on. Ideas like all of those logically follow from (and are implicit in) parts of what this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls for, and it also logically follows from parts of what this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls for to seek out, acknowledge and act on the science and evidence around all of that. Again, in order for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways, people’s primary intention in benefiting other people possibly can’t be to benefit themselves/ourselves, and possibly always needs to be to benefit other people, with any benefit to themselves/ourselves only being intended to be a secondary by-product, but if people can acknowledge and act on ideas like all of those too, and the science and evidence around all of that, it could also contribute to motivating people to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice and to maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways (if again people can harness or channel their drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves to do that…); so many people within the current structuring of human society are obviously always trying to benefit themselves by at least instrumentally harming other people or other groups (including by irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind cannot survive without), or are at least instrumentally harming other people or other groups in order to try to benefit themselves (at least partly because so many people are misled or coerced into believing they need to at least instrumentally harm other people in order to maximise benefit for themselves); and as long as people or groups are trying to benefit themselves by at least instrumentally harming other people or other groups, or are at least instrumentally harming other people or other groups in order to try to benefit themselves (or as long as people or groups are misled or coerced into believing they need to at least instrumentally harm other people or other groups in order to maximise benefit for themselves), we’re obviously probably never going to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice and in maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways.
The fact that so many people within the current and (relatively) recent structuring of human society are or have been misled or coerced into believing they/we need to at least instrumentally harm or compete with other people or other groups in order to maximise benefit for themselves/ourselves, is obviously interlinked with how so many people are or have been misled or coerced into believing that, in order to maximise benefit for themselves/ourselves, they/we need to consume bigger amounts and more types of resources than they/we need in order to survive or live and to potentially engage in ways of living or behaving like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above (which are most conducive to fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and which can be the most effective ways for all people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves, or each other and everyone…). Though there are obviously many complex and varied social structures, systems and behaviours (including ways of thinking and relating to people and the world, etc), as well as causes of suffering and injustice on different levels of causation and other factors (a lot of which affect each other dialectically), which contribute to bringing about the following other interlinked aspects of the current structuring of human society*, it’s obviously partly also because of the fact that so many people have been misled or coerced into believing both of those untruths or lies (which is also in dialectics with those structures, systems and behaviours), that many people take (from other people), consume and destroy (or have taken (from other people), consumed and destroyed) so many of the finite amounts of resources (which humankind cannot survive without) in the world, that:
– so many other people are denied access to the resources which they cannot survive without, or are denied access to life (no matter how intelligent, hard-working, skilled, talented or virtuous (etc) they are)*;
– so many people (to varying degrees) are forced to spend so much more of their time and energy (than would be necessary in the kinds of structuring it’s potentially possible to create*) trying to get the resources they need in order to survive or live*.
And one of the effects of those causes of suffering and injustice is obviously that the situation for so many people is that, even if they intend or want to do far more to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and to maximise benefit for people/humankind (possibly including themselves) in the most effective ways, they are not able or free to do that (for different reasons)*, or don’t have enough time and energy to do that (and aren’t able or free to use enough of their intelligence, ingenuity, creativity, imagination, skill and talent (etc), as well as time and energy, to do that)*, and all that also constitutes another cause of suffering and injustice (on another level of causation) which causes and exacerbates other causes of suffering and injustice. And though again there are obviously many complex and varied social structures, systems and behaviours (including ways of thinking and relating to people and the world, etc), as well as causes of suffering and injustice on different levels of causation and other factors (a lot of which affect each other dialectically), which contribute to bringing about the following other interlinked causes of suffering and injustice on other levels of causation (and the following other interlinked aspects of the current structuring of human society)*, the fact that so many people within the current and (relatively) recent structuring of society are and have been misled or coerced into believing both of those untruths or lies mentioned above (which is also in dialectics with those structures, systems, and behaviours) can obviously also be seen to be:
– a main underlying cause of the situation within the current structuring in which only such comparatively small amounts of the resources accumulated in human society are made available to be used to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for people/humankind (or are made available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and to maximise benefit for people/humankind)*, and only such comparatively small numbers of people in the world are (for different reasons*) able or free to collaborate globally as well as locally to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind (globally as well as locally)*;
– a main underlying cause of the social (including political, economic and ideological) structures, systems and behaviours (including ways of thinking and relating to people and the world) which cause so much suffering and injustice in so many other ways* (or even a main underlying cause of all the suffering and injustice which is caused and allowed within and by the current structuring);
– a main underlying barrier which obviously prevents enough from being done to fight all the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, or which gets in the way of all people uniting in diversity and mobilising together to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways.
And without overcoming that underlying barrier, it will obviously be so much harder to fight all the other causes of suffering and injustice in the world on all the different levels of causation in the most effective ways; overcoming that barrier will make it so much easier to overcome the social (including political, economic and ideological) structures, systems and behaviours (including ways of thinking and relating to people and the world, etc) which constitute other causes of suffering and injustice on different levels of causation, and overcoming that barrier will make it so much easier to move the dialectics between social (including political, economic and ideological) structures and human thought/behaviour in ways which enable all people to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways; or overcoming that barrier will just make it so much easier to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways (and make that the priority of human society). And the lies (which so many people within the current structuring are misled or coerced into believing) that people need to at least instrumentally harm or compete with other people or other groups in order to maximise benefit for themselves/ourselves… (along with the social structures, systems and behaviours which contribute to misleading or coercing people into believing those lies) are also so ingrained and pervasive in and throughout almost every area and aspect of human life and society, that again it might only be possible to eliminate those lies (along with the social structures, systems and behaviours which contribute to misleading or coercing people into believing those lies), so that all people can channel or harness their/our drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves/ourselves to live or behave in those most mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above, if pretty much all people unite in diversity to eliminate or overcome those lies and the social structures, systems and behaviours which contribute to misleading or coercing people into believing those lies. Again it maybe can’t be proven at the moment that, with that incredible intelligence, ingenuity, imagination and creativity, etc, which humankind collectively has, it’s possible for humankind to collectively find and implement ways to make the changes to the social (including political, economic and ideological) structuring of human society which are necessary in order to allow or enable all people to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways (or in order to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways); but again all the arguments that it’s not possible for humankind to do that (or all the arguments that the ways in which human society currently functions or operates can’t be changed, in order to make it the priority of human society to do all of that…), are all arguments which can’t be proven (or which rely on premises that can’t be proven), and again possibly the main or only thing that could guarantee in that sense that we wouldn’t be able to do that, would be if we didn’t even try, so again, surely we need to try? Again this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge obviously might not be the most effective way to contribute to making space for people to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to make the changes to the whole social (including political, economic and ideological) structuring of human society which are necessary in order to allow or enable all people to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and again, if there are ways which could be more effective in doing all of that (and which address or deal with all the issues raised on the pages of this site), this will obviously fully support those.
If enough people (or all people) are to have the necessary motivation to collectively make the necessary changes to the social structuring to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (and unite in diversity to make all of that the priority of human society…), or the necessary changes (to the current structuring) to allow or enable all people to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (for it to be possible to make that happen), obviously it could possibly be useful and beneficial if enough people (or all people) can acknowledge and act on the possibility that living or behaving in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above can be the most effective way for (all) people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves (which again so much evidence shows is a possibility); and it could obviously be useful and beneficial for that if enough people (or all people) can raise or spread consciousness and awareness of that possibility as much as possible in any ways they can, or can encourage enough other people (or all people or each other) to acknowledge and act on that possibility, as much as possible in any ways they can (and something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge (which calls for all people to acknowledge and act on that possibility…) could provide at least one way for people to do that)…; obviously much more than that is needed to fulfil these following purposes (and some people obviously have more power and resources than others within the current structuring to contribute to fulfilling all these purposes), as is touched on further on, but possibly the more people who sign and share something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge (and call for all people to acknowledge and act on that possibility) the more weight and power could be added to the idea of acknowledging and acting on that possibility, and the more something like this could help raise or spread consciousness and awareness of that possibility, or the more something like this could help encourage other people to acknowledge and act on that possibility…; that’s one way in which something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge could at least contribute to helping in the overcoming of that underlying barrier (mentioned above), or could at least contribute to bringing about the necessary situation where enough people (or all people) have the necessary motivation to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (which is necessary for it to be possible to make all of that happen); or that’s a way in which something like this could in itself hopefully at least contribute to helping facilitate and lay the foundations for the necessary uniting in diversity and mobilisation of enough critical masses of people (or all people?) to make all of that the priority of human society… (which is necessary for it to be possible to make all of that happen); and that could also in itself hopefully at least contribute to helping facilitate or lay the foundations for the necessary making of enough space(s) in the mainstreams of (or all of) human society for all people to be able to collectively find exactly how we can make all of that the priority of human society…, so we can actually make all of that happen.
In order for all the different causes of suffering and injustice to be fought in the most effective ways and for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways, it’s obviously useful and beneficial (or necessary) for all people to have freedom of speech or expression, with egalitarian access to the control of all (controllable) influences which can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to have the most influence on the most people’s thought, behaviour, values, aspirations and consciousness, including mass media and mass education systems (and all controllable influences generally), insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, so that all people can expose and publicise to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people things such as:
– any suffering and injustice they or others are facing, or anything obstructing them or others from being able to fight any suffering or injustice (which they or others are facing) in the most effective ways (insofar as they or others don’t cause any suffering and injustice to anyone else, or insofar as they or others don’t obstruct anyone else from fighting any suffering or injustice (which they or others are facing) in the most effective ways, etc);
– any obstructions to their or others’ self-determination and autonomy (self-determination and autonomy insofar as neither they nor others obstruct anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy);
– anything obstructing them or others from maximising benefit for themselves or others (or humankind) in the most effective ways (insofar as they or others don’t obstruct anyone else from maximising benefit for themselves or others in the most effective ways);
– what they can empirically and rationally verify (as far as possible) to be the causes of that (or any) suffering and injustice or of those obstructions (in contexts they’re in or globally);
– what they can empirically and rationally verify to be the most effective ways to fight that (or any) suffering and injustice, to overcome and eliminate those obstructions, and to maximise benefit for themselves or others (or humankind) in those contexts and globally, insofar as they or others don’t cause any suffering and injustice to anyone else (or obstruct anyone else from fighting any suffering or injustice (which they or others are facing) in the most effective ways), insofar as they or others don’t obstruct anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy (self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy), and insofar as they or others don’t obstruct anyone else from maximising benefit for themselves or others in the most effective ways, and so on.
And in order for it to be ensured that all people to have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all those controllable influences on people’s thought, behaviour, values, aspirations and consciousness, including mass media and mass education systems) insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, it’s obviously useful and beneficial for all people (particularly all people or groups who can be verified like that to have the most control over those influences) to have the motivation to find out or learn from other people about things like all those things listed in those points just above. And in order for all people (particularly all people or groups who have the most control over those influences) to have the motivation to find out or learn from other people about things like all those things listed in those points just above, it’s obviously useful and beneficial for all people to have the motivation to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other in the most effective ways… . So in order for all people (particularly all people or groups who can be verified like that to have the most control over those influences) to be motivated to collectively ensure all people have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all those controllable influences, including mass media and mass education systems), insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, it’s obviously useful and beneficial for all people to have the motivation to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other in the most effective ways… . And so in order for all people (and in particular all people or groups who can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to have the most control over any (controllable) influences which (can be verified like that to) have the most influence on the most people’s thought, behaviour, values, aspirations and consciousness, including mass media and mass education systems, and all controllable influences generally), to collectively ensure in those most effective ways that all people have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of those influences), insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, it’s therefore obviously useful and beneficial for all people (and in particular all people or groups who have the most control over those influences) to collectively ensure in those most effective ways that all people (or each other) are motivated enough to unite in diversity to collectively overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (or each other) in the most effective ways…, and make all of that the priority of human society… (i.e. motivated (to collectively do all of that…) as much as can be verified (as described above) to be necessary for all people to actually collectively do all of that…). And so also in order for all people (and in particular all people or groups who have the most control over those influences) to collectively ensure in those most effective ways that all people have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of those influences) insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, it’s obviously also useful and beneficial for all people (and in particular all people or groups who have most control over those influences) to therefore collectively publicise and expose to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people (or each other) certain things which it’s necessary (or at least useful and beneficial) for all people to have enough consciousness of in order for all people to be motivated enough to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (and make all of that the priority of human society…), possibly including things which this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls all people (and in particular all people or groups who have most control over those influences) to collectively expose and publicise to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people or each other, or to collectively ensure all people or each other have sufficient consciousness of (i.e. motivated (to collectively do all of that…) as much as is necessary for all people to actually collectively do all of that…). And for all people or groups who have the most control over those influences (as well as all people generally) to do all that (or to be motivated enough to do all that), it could be useful and beneficial for those people or groups to also acknowledge and be motivated by things like those which this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls those people or groups (along with all other people) to expose and publicise to a sufficient extent to all people, such as how living or behaving in ways which consist in uniting in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (and make all of that the priority of human society…), can by definition be the most effective way for everyone (including those people or groups who have the most control over those influences) to maximise benefit for themselves, as is outlined above; and for those people or groups who have the most control over those influences, living or behaving in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways would include ensuring all people have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of those influences) insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, and (partly for that purpose) also ensuring all people are motivated enough to unite in diversity to collectively overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (or each other) in the most effective ways… (and make all of that the priority of human society…); or, for those people or groups who have the most control over those influences, living or behaving in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways would include making those influences available for humankind to collectively use to ensure all people have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of those influences) insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, and (partly for that purpose) to also ensure all people are motivated enough to unite in diversity to collectively overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (or each other) in the most effective ways… (and make all of that the priority of human society…). And in order for all people to have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all those types of influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else) to collectively publicise and expose, to a sufficient extent to enough people, things like those in the points listed near the top of this paragraph, it would obviously also be useful and beneficial for there to be social environments which enable all people to, and enough space(s) for all people to be able to, collectively and autonomously verify (as described above) what those most effective ways to collectively maximise benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves/ourselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice…, both in their/our own contexts and globally (and make all of that the priority of human society…) are, as well as what the most effective ways of autonomously and collectively implementing those most effective ways of doing all of that… are, & so on, insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else from doing the same, & so on. So in order for all people (and in particular all people who have the most control over those influences) to ensure all people have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all those controllable influences), insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, it’s therefore obviously useful and beneficial for all people (and in particular all people who have the most control over those influences) to collectively make enough of those spaces and social environments in the mainstreams of (or all of) human society (for all people to be able to collectively and autonomously verify (as described above) what those most effective ways to collectively maximise benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves/ourselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice…, both in their/our own contexts and globally (and make all of that the priority of human society…) are, as well as what the most effective ways of autonomously and collectively implementing those most effective ways of doing all of that… are, & so on, insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else from doing the same, & so on), as well as ensuring all people are motivated enough to do all of that…, so we can actually make all of that happen.
And as it’s possibly necessary to overcome or break down those underlying barriers (mentioned above) in order for all people to be motivated enough to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone…, overcoming or breaking down those underlying barriers could therefore also be useful and beneficial for ensuring all people have freedom of speech or expression, with egalitarian access to the control of all those influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else. In order for those underlying barriers (mentioned above) to be overcome or broken down, it’s obviously necessary for enough (or all) people to be able to be conscious of the possibility that the most effective way for (all) people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves can be for (all) people to live or behave in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above (and in the text of the ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge). In order for enough (or all) people to be conscious of that possibility, it would obviously be useful and beneficial for that possibility to be publicised and exposed to sufficient extent to enough (or all) people. So again, for reasons that are similar to those outlined in the paragraph(s) just above, publicising and exposing that possibility to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people, could therefore also be useful and beneficial for ensuring all people have freedom of speech or expression, with egalitarian access to the control of all those controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else. In order for that possibility to be publicised and exposed to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people, it would obviously be necessary (or at least useful and beneficial) for those people or groups who have the most control over those influences, to make those influences available to be used enough to publicise and expose that possibility to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people; those people or groups who have the most control over those influences, possibly need to make those influences available to be used enough to publicise and expose that possibility to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people, in order for:
– enough awareness and consciousness to be raised of that possibility in enough (or all) people for enough (or all) people to be able to acknowledge and act on it, or to harness or channel their/our drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves/ourselves to unite in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (or each other) in the most effective ways…, as much as is potentially possible… (or in order for that possibility (or awareness and consciousness of it) to contribute enough to the breaking down or overcoming of that first underlying barrier mentioned above);
– that possibility (or awareness and consciousness of it) to contribute enough to bringing about the necessary situation where enough people (or all people) are motivated enough to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (i.e. motivated (to collectively do all of that…) as much as is necessary for all people to actually collectively do all of that…); or in order for that possibility (or awareness and consciousness of it) to contribute enough to helping facilitate and lay the foundations for the necessary uniting in diversity and mobilisation of enough critical masses of people (or all people) to make all of that the priority of human society… (which is necessary in order for all of that to be possible);
– that possibility (or awareness and consciousness of it) to contribute enough to helping facilitate or lay the foundations for the necessary making of enough space(s) in the mainstreams of (or all of) human society for all people to be able to collectively and autonomously verify (as described above) what those most effective ways to collectively maximise benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves/ourselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice…, both in their/our own contexts and globally (and make all of that the priority of human society…) are, as well as what the most effective ways of autonomously and collectively implementing those most effective ways of doing all of that… are, & so on, insofar as no one even instrumentally obstructs anyone else from doing the same, & so on.
And while again possibly pretty much all people would agree that it should be the priority of human society to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, within the current structuring so many people are misled or coerced into believing that it’s impossible to make all of that the priority of human society… partly because (or linked with that) within the current structuring so many people are misled or coerced into believing that not enough other people would join in making all of that the priority of human society…, though again all the arguments that humankind can’t make all of that the priority of human society…, or that not enough people would join in doing all of that…, obviously can’t be proven (or rely on premises which can’t be proven), and there’s far more evidence to refute those negative arguments than there is to corroborate them. And if enough people (or all people?) are to be able to show, confirm or declare to each other, that they/we agree it should be the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and that they/we pledge that they/we would join in making all of that the priority of human society… (possibly showing, confirming or declaring and pledging those things to each other in a way like signing something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge), in order for that to contribute enough to making it seem more possible to do all of that… (or making it seem more possible that humankind can collectively do all of that…), in order for that to contribute enough to making enough space(s) in the mainstreams of (or all of) human society for all people to be able to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to do all of that…, and in order to contribute enough to helping facilitate the necessary uniting in diversity and mobilisation of enough critical masses of people (or all people) to make all of that the priority of human society…, all the people or groups who (can be verified, as described above, to) have the most control over those types of influences (mentioned above) would possibly need to make those influences available to be collectively used for people to show, confirm or declare and pledge those things to each other, or to be used to publicise and expose to a sufficient extent to all people or each other how many (other) people show, confirm or declare and pledge those things to each other.
And in order for all the other things (along with those outlined more above), which this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls for all people (and in particular all those people or groups who (can be verified, as described above, to) have the most control over those types of influences mentioned above) to publicise and expose to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people, to also have enough effect or impact too in (in ways like those outlined above) ensuring all people to have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all of those controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else), and ensuring all people are motivated enough to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…), those people who have the most control over those influences obviously also possibly need to make those influences available to be collectively used to also publicise and expose things like those (along with those outlined more above) to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people (as obviously for things like those to be publicised and exposed to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people…, those influences would possibly need to be used); without all people or groups who have the most control over those influences making all of those influences available to be collectively used to publicise and expose things like all of those to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people, it obviously might not be possible for all people (or all of them/us) to have enough consciousness of things like those for all people (or all of them/us) to be motivated enough to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and for all people to be motivated enough to collectively ensure all people to have freedom of speech or expression with egalitarian access to the control of all of those controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else; but without all people generally in every area of human society also collectively taking the amounts and kinds of action which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order to ensure that all people (or each other) have sufficient consciousness of things like those using any other means which can be used for that purpose (or collectively using all the other possible means which it can be verified (as described above) to be necessary to use in order to ensure all people have sufficient consciousness of things like those), it also might not be possible for all people (or all of them/us) to have enough consciousness of things like those for all people (or all of them/us) to be motivated enough to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and for all people to be motivated enough to ensure all people to have freedom of speech or expression with egalitarian access to the control of all of those controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else. Again, in order for all people to be motivated enough to ensure all people (or each other) have freedom of speech or expression with egalitarian access to the control of all of those types of controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, it’s obviously useful and beneficial (for reasons like those outlined above) for all people to be motivated enough to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…; and in order for all people to be motivated enough to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, it’s obviously possibly useful and beneficial for all people to have enough consciousness of things like those which this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls for all people (and in particular all those people or groups who have the most control over those types of influences mentioned above) to publicise and expose to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people; and in order for all people to have enough consciousness of things like those, it’s obviously useful and beneficial for those people or groups who have the most control over those types of influences to make those influences available to be collectively used to publicise and expose things like all of those to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people (or for all people (and in particular all those people or groups who have the most control over those types of influences mentioned above) to publicise and expose things like all of those to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people); so making those types of influences available to be collectively used to publicise and expose things like all of those to a sufficient extent to enough (or all) people, is also useful and beneficial for ensuring all people have freedom of speech or expression with egalitarian access to the control of all of those controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else.
Again for people or groups who have the most control over those influences (as well as all people generally) to be motivated enough to make those influences available to be collectively used to ensure all people have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all those controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else), to ensure all people are motivated enough to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and to make enough of space(s) and social environments in the mainstreams (or all) of human society for all people to be able to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to do all of that…, it would obviously be useful and beneficial for those people or groups (who have the most control over those influences) to also take in, acknowledge and be motivated by things like those which this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls for those people or groups (along with all other people) to expose and publicise to a sufficient extent to all people, such as how living or behaving in ways which consist in uniting in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (and make all of that the priority of human society…), can by definition be the most effective way for everyone (including those people or groups who have the most control over those influences) to maximise benefit for themselves, as is outlined above; and again for those people or groups who have the most control over those influences, living or behaving in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways would include making those influences available to be collectively used to ensure all people have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all those controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else), to ensure all people are motivated enough to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, and to make enough of space(s) and social environments in the mainstreams (or all) of human society for all people to be able to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to do all of that… . And obviously the more people who call for those people or groups who have the most control over those influences (as well as all people generally) to ensure those things and make enough of those spaces and social environments in the mainstreams (or all) of human society for all that, or to make those influences available to be used for all that (possibly calling for those people or groups (along with all people generally) to ensure those things and make enough of those spaces… in a way like signing something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge), the more powerful that call could become in motivating those people or groups to do all that (including in how it could add more weight to things like those which this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls for those people or groups (along with all other people) to expose and publicise to a sufficient extent to all people).
And without all people or groups who have the most control over those influences making those influences available to be collectively used to make enough space(s) and social environments in the mainstreams (or all) of human society for all people to be able to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, it again might not be possible for there to be enough space(s) and social environments in the mainstreams of or all of human society for enough people or all people to be able to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to make all of that the priority of human society…, so that we can actually make that happen (and therefore, for reasons like those outlined above, it again also might not be possible for all people to have freedom of speech and expression, with egalitarian access to the control of all those controllable influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else). But without pretty much all people generally in every area of human society also collectively taking the amounts and kinds of action which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order to make enough space(s) and social environments in the mainstreams (or all) of human society for all that, collectively using any other necessary means which can be used for that purpose (or collectively using all the other possible means which it can be verified (as described above) to be necessary to use in order to make enough of those spaces and social environments…), it also might not be possible for there to be enough space(s) and social environments in the mainstreams of or all of human society for all people to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (as those spaces and social environments would need to be made in pretty much all areas of human society in order for all people to be able to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…). It might seem naive to call for all people to collectively make enough of those spaces and social environments in the mainstreams or all of human society (for all people to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to do all of that…) without setting up or prescribing specific procedures and logistics for people to use to go about collectively making those spaces and social environments (and collectively finding (and implementing) the most effective ways to do all of that…), but if one individual organisation (not consisting of all people) was to set up and prescribe specific procedures and logistics for people to make those spaces and social environments (and collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to do all of that…), it would obviously go against all people having autonomy or self-determination (autonomy and self-determination insofar as no one obstructs anyone else’s autonomy and self-determination) to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to make those spaces and social environments in their/our own contexts and situations, or wouldn’t take into account the massive diversity of different ways which different people would need to use in different contexts and situations to collectively make those spaces and social environments (and collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…); and it could obviously obstruct people’s ingenuity, creativity and imagination to collectively find and implement the most effective ways of making those spaces and social environments, as well as to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… . And the spaces or social environments which any one individual organisation (not consisting of all people) can set up on their own for all that, can obviously never be big enough for all people to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…; or again till pretty much all people (and all organisations, etc) are uniting in diversity and mobilising together to do all of that…, we’ll never be able to get far enough.
In order to ensure all people have autonomy or self-determination insofar as people don’t obstruct anyone else’s autonomy and self-determination, this obviously can’t prescribe or impose exactly what specific action people should take to fight (all the different causes of) suffering and injustice in the world or to maximise benefit for everyone (in the most effective ways)…; and as there’s such a massive diversity of different contexts and situations in the world, which are so complex, etc, the most effective ways of maximising benefit for everyone and fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in each different context and situation will obviously differ so much, which is obviously another reason why this can’t prescribe or impose specific ways which people should use to fight the suffering and injustice and to maximise benefit for everyone; again the massive diversity of different contexts and situations in the world and human society obviously means that, in order for all the different causes of suffering and injustice to be fought in the most effective ways and for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways, all people need to have self-determination and autonomy to empirically and rationally verfity what the most effective ways of maximising well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone and fighting all the causes of suffering and injustice in their own situations are, insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy to do the same, and insofar as all people are also uniting in diversity globally to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to fight all the causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone globally…; so this just calls for and encourages all people to fully actualise their potentials for rationality and reflexivity with each other to collectively find or work out ways (with other people, in spaces like those described above) to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone (ways which can be empirically and rationally verified to be the most effective ways of doing all of that, and of making all of that the priority of human society)*; and again, possibly the more people who call for all of that (possibly in a way like signing something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge), the more power can be generated for all of that and for all the people who call for all of that.
People have obviously already worked out so many ways of effectively fighting so many different causes of suffering and injustice (or ways of effectively maximising benefit for people, etc), or have worked out so many viable solutions to so many of the problems in the world (ways or solutions which don’t cause any other suffering and injustice, etc*), and with the massive intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, skill and talent (etc) which people collectively have (or which humankind collectively has), it’s obviously potentially possible that people (or humankind) can collectively:
– find and implement ways of effectively fighting so many more (if not all) causes of suffering and injustice (at least all causes of suffering and injustice resulting from human action or lack of action, etc*), including the social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice (ways which don’t cause any other suffering and injustice*);
– work out how to improve (where necessary) ways or solutions which people have already worked out (or make those ways more effective), or work out and implement new ways or solutions (where they’re necessary) which are more effective (again ways which don’t cause any other suffering and injustice*).
But obviously within the current structuring of society, for many reasons*:
– not enough people are able or free (to use enough of their time, energy, agency, intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, skill, talent, or potentials for reflexivity and rationality, etc) to implement or actualise existing solutions (which people have already worked out) enough;
– not enough of the resources accumulated in human society are made available for people to use to actualise or implement those existing solutions enough (and not enough spaces are made for people to implement or actualise existing solutions);
– not enough people are free to or able to use enough of their intelligence, ingenuity, imagination and creativity (or their time, energy, agency, skill, talent, or potentials for reflexivity and rationality, etc) enough to find and implement the most effective ways of fighting enough more (if not all*) causes of suffering and injustice, to improve existing solutions where necessary (making them more effective, etc), or to work out and implement new, more effective solutions where they’re necessary (ways which don’t cause any other suffering and injustice), etc;
– not enough of the resources accumulated in human society are made available for people to use to find and implement the most effective ways of fighting enough more (if not all*) causes of suffering and injustice, to improve existing solutions where necessary, or to work out and implement new, more effective solutions where they’re necessary, etc;
– not enough spaces are made for people to find and implement the most effective ways of fighting enough more (if not all*) causes of suffering and injustice, to improve existing solutions where necessary, or to work out and implement new, more effective solutions where they’re necessary, etc.
Some people within the current structuring of human society obviously have far more power and resources than other people to:
– implement or actualise existing solutions, to find and implement the most effective ways of fighting enough more (if not all*) causes of suffering and injustice, to improve existing solutions where necessary, or to find and implement new, more effective solutions where they’re necessary, etc, and to use their time, energy, intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, agency, skill, talent, and potentials for reflexivity and rationality (etc) to do all of that;
– make enough resources (and power) available for enough (or all) people (including themselves) to be able to use enough of their time, energy, agency, intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, skill, talent, and potentials for reflexivity and rationality (etc), to implement or actualise existing solutions enough, to find and implement the most effective ways of fighting enough more (if not all*) causes of suffering and injustice enough, to improve existing solutions enough where necessary, or to find and implement new, more effective solutions enough where they’re necessary, etc; or to free up enough (or all) people’s time, energy, agency, intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, agency or potentials for reflexivity and rationality (including their own)* so people can fully apply their time, energy, agency, intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, agency or potentials for reflexivity and rationality to doing that;
– make enough spaces in the mainstreams or all of human society for enough (or all) people to find and implement the most effective ways to fight enough more (if not all*) causes of suffering and injustice, to improve existing solutions where necessary, or to find and implement new more effective solutions where they’re necessary, etc (as well as to implement or actualise existing solutions enough).
And it’s obviously partly because people within the current structuring of human society are misled or coerced into believing they need to at least instrumentally harm or compete with other people in order to maximise benefit for themselves that there obviously isn’t enough motivation or will in enough of those people with more power and resources (to potentially do all of that) within the current structuring of society (as well as others) to actually do all of that (to implement and work out the most effective solutions or ways to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and to maximise benefit for everyone, and to make enough resources, power and space available for enough or all people to be able to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice and to maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and to make that the priority of human society, etc (and to do all of that which is in the points listed just above). But as again so much evidence to shows that living and behaving in ways which consists in doing as much as possible fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for (all) other people in the most effective ways… can be the most effective way for people to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves (as is outlined above)*, it could obviously bring so much more benefit to those people with more power and resources (to potentially do all of that) within the current structuring to actually use their resources and power to implement and find the most effective solutions or ways to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind (including themselves), and to make enough of their excess resources (amounts and types of resources which they don’t need in order to survive and live or behave in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above) and power available for humankind to collectively use to find and implement the most effective ways to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice and to maximise benefit for everyone (including themselves)…, and make that the priority of human society… (and to do all of that which is in the points listed just above), as it’s obviously necessary for them to do all that in order for them to be living and behaving in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined earlier (and therefore to maximise benefit for themselves…). And so again (partly because it’s obviously possibly necessary for those people with those bigger amounts of power and resources (to potentially do all of that) within the current structuring in particular, to actually do all of that in order for all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world to be fought in the most effective ways and for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways), it could be useful if there’s something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge to encourage those people with those bigger amounts of power and resources… within the current structuring of human society to:
– acknowledge and act on the possibility that (as is outlined above) the most effective way for them (people with those bigger amounts of power and resources…, along with all other people) to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or benefit) for themselves can (for many reasons*) potentially be for them to live or behave in those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above, and therefore obviously also for them to make enough of their excess resources and power available for people/humankind to be able to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (including those people with those bigger amounts of power and resources… in the current structuring)… and make all of that the priority of human society… (and contribute as much as possible to doing all that which is in the points listed just above);
– therefore harness or channel their drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves to actually find and implement the most effective solutions or ways to fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind, and to make their power and resources available for humankind to be able to collectively find and implement the most effective ways to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (including those people with those bigger amounts of power and resources… in the current structuring)…, and make all of that the priority of human society (or to find and implement the most effective ways to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice and to maximise benefit for everyone… in the most effective ways…), and contribute as much as possible to doing all that which is in the points listed just above… .
(And just in case the argument is made that calling for those people (with those bigger amounts of power and resources to potentially do all of that within the current structuring) to actually do all of that, is obstructing those people’s self-determination and autonomy (and, partly as a result of that, is causing those people suffering and suffering and injustice), it might be good to mention here that if those people (with those bigger amounts of power and resources…) are not actually doing all of that, within the current structuring, those people are obviously at least instrumentally obstructing the self-determination and autonomy (self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy) of so many other people*, and are at least instrumentally causing so much suffering and injustice to so many other people*; and an obvious example of a logical conclusion of the argument that calling for those people (with those bigger amounts of power and resources…) to actually do all of that is obstructing their self-determination and autonomy, is that calling for certain people to not murder millions or billions of innocent people is obstructing the self-determination and autonomy of those certain people, and partly as a result of that is causing those certain people suffering and injustice, & so on; this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge calls for all people to unite in diversity to ensure (in the most effective ways) that all people have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy…).
But because again there are so many different causes of suffering and injustice in the world on so many different levels of causation (including the underlying social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of the suffering and injustice), which are so complex and varied (with some causing and being linked with others in so many different ways, etc), and because particularly the structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice are again so ingrained and pervasive in and throughout almost every area and aspect of human life and society, it’s again possibly only possible for all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world to be fought in the most effective ways and for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways, if pretty much all people generally in every area of human society unite in diversity and mobilise together to do all of that…; so this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge again obviously again also calls for all people generally in every level and area of human society (as well as (or including) those people with those bigger amounts power and resources… within the current structuring) to also acknowledge and act on the possibility that the most effective way for all people to maximise benefit for themselves/ourselves can be for them/us to live or behave in ways like those mutually and interconnectedly beneficial ways outlined above, and so also again calls for all people generally in every area of human society (as well as (or including) those people with those bigger amounts of power and resources…), to harness or channel their/our drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves/ourselves to unite in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone (or each other) in those most effective ways…, as much as is potentially possible…, or to unite in diversity to collectively make all of that the priority of human society… (and again in ways like those outlined above*, something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge, could be useful in generating the necessary motivation to find and actualise or implement the most effective solutions or ways to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone…, and make all of that the priority of human society…).
Again if people/humankind can overcome all the underlying barriers which are mentioned above, or are addressed in the text of the ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge (or which something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge could possibly help overcome, as is outlined above*), it will be possibly be much easier to overcome and eliminate all the other obstacles which get in the way of all people being able or free to unite in diversity to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone (including themselves/ourselves) in the most effective ways… (and make all of that the priority of human society*); it will be possibly be much easier to overcome and eliminate all the other obstacles which get in the way of all people being free to or able to fully apply their intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, skill, talent, potentials for reflexivity and rationality, time, energy and agency (etc) to uniting in diversity to do all of that…; it will be possibly be much easier to overcome and eliminate all the other obstacles which get in the way of all people being free to or able to make enough of the resources accumulated in human society available to be used to do all of that… (or available for humankind to collectively use to all of that…); and it will possibly be much easier to make enough space(s) and social environments for enough (or all) people to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to do all of that…, etc; if people/humankind can overcome and eliminate those underlying barriers, it could free up people’s time, energy, agency, intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, skill, talent, or potentials for reflexivity and rationality (etc)* so all people will be able to fully apply their time, energy, agency, intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, skill, talent, or potentials for reflexivity and rationality (etc) to finding and implementing the most effective ways to fight all the other different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other (and make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone or each other in the most effective ways); and the more that people can make all of that the priority of human society, the more people will be able to free up and fully apply their time, energy, agency, intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, skill, talent, or potentials for reflexivity and rationality (etc) to implement or actualise existing solutions enough, to find and implement the most effective ways of fighting enough more (if not all*) causes of suffering and injustice enough, to improve existing solutions enough where necessary, and to find and implement new, more effective solutions enough where they’re necessary, etc (and the more of the resources accumulated in human society will be made available to be used to do all of that… (or will be made available for humankind to collectively use to do all of that…), and the more space(s) and social environments will be made for people/humankind to collectively find (and implement) the most effective ways to do all of that…, etc). If it’s the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, that again obviously means, by definition, that enough people (or all people) will be free to or able to find, actualise and implement the most effective ways possible of doing all of that…, people/humankind will be able to make enough of the resources accumulated in human society available to be used to do all of that… (or available for humankind to collectively use to do all of that…), and people/humankind will be able to make enough space(s) and social environments for people to find (and implement) the most effective ways to do all of that… . This ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge again might be able to contribute to helping in the overcoming of those underlying barriers, but there obviously might be more effective ways to overcome those underlying barriers, and this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge obviously calls for people to find and implement and actualise those ways of doing that, etc (and again if you have ideas for ways which are more effective in overcoming those underlying barriers (and which address all the issues raised in the text on the pages of this site), please get in touch to say what those ways are, and this will obviously support those ways).
While some people obviously have far more power and resources than others within the current structuring of society, obviously no individual person, government, corporation, charity, or any other individual organisation (on their own) has enough power to do all that’s necessary in order to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice and to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways (on their own), so it would be pointless for something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge to be sent to or directed at only one individual person, government, corporation, or other individual organisation, etc, as many traditional or conventional campaigns or petitions are; because again there are so many different causes of suffering and injustice in the world on so many different levels of causation (including the underlying social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice), which are so complex and varied, and because particularly the structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice are again so ingrained and pervasive in and throughout almost every area and aspect of human life and society, again it’s possibly only possible to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and in maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (and to make it the priority of human society to do that in the most effective ways…), if pretty much all people (in every level and area or human society) unite in diversity and mobilise together to do that…; so this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge is again meant to be sent to pretty much all people (including people who have far more power and resources than others within the current structuring), by pretty much all people (or is meant for pretty much all people to send to each other), to again call for all people to unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways, and to help facilitate (in ways like those outlined above) that necessary uniting in diversity and mobilising of critical masses of enough people or all people so humankind/we can actually do that. And it could be useful to mention here another relevant consequence of how:
– there are so many different causes of suffering and injustice in the world on so many different levels of causation (including the underlying social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice), which are so complex and varied (with some causing and being linked with others in many different ways, etc);
– particularly the structural and systemic causes of suffering and injustice are again so ingrained and pervasive in and throughout almost every area and aspect of human life and society, that so many people are forced to at least indirectly or participate in, perpetuate and propel the harmful structures and systems in order to survive* and even in order to maintain their potential and influence to fight the suffering and injustice and to maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways* (so that so many people are at least instrumentally complicit in so many causes of suffering and injustice even if they don’t fully intend to be*).
And that other consequence of those things is that, if people were try to create conventional or traditional types of petitions and campaigns (which are typically aimed at fighting different individual causes of suffering and injustice separately or in isolation from others, on surface levels of causation, etc), in order to fight every single cause of suffering and injustice separately (or in isolation from others) in that way, people would have to create those types of separate petitions and campaigns against themselves anyway, or would have to send or direct those separate petitions and campaigns to or at themselves anyway, and would have to create such a massive number of those separate petitions and campaigns in order to try and get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice on those surface levels of causation in that way (separately, in isolation from each other), that it obviously probably wouldn’t be an effective or efficient way to try and fight all those different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and to maximise benefit for everyone*. Without addressing underlying structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice, and other aspects of the current structuring (which constitute other underlying causes of suffering and injustice) which this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge seeks to address (such as how only such comparatively small numbers of people within the current structuring are (for different reasons*) able or free to collaborate globally as well as locally to find and implement the most effective ways to overcome and eliminate or fight the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for people/humankind, and other aspects outlined above), it’s obviously not possible to get far enough in fighting the massive number of surface-level causes of suffering and injustice (separately or in isolation from each other). Instead of people only trying to create such massive numbers of separate petitions and campaigns against themselves to try and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice separately or in isolation from other in those ways, it could be useful, beneficial, efficient or effective to have something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge which all people can use to call for and motivate each other, themselves or all people to unite in diversity and mobilise together to collectively find and implement the most effective solutions or ways to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice (including underlying structural and systemic causes of the problems) together and to maximise benefit for everyone, and to take all the different necessary kinds of action to actually make this happen (partly as that obviously covers or addresses all that those massive numbers of separate petitions and campaigns would, and possibly covers or addresses all of that more holistically, efficiently and effectively, with more reflexivity or flexibility, as well as covering and addressing many key factors which it would be harder for separate petitions to cover or address (partly as is outlined above), including how so many new different causes (and types of causes) of suffering and injustice are created in the world so frequently within the current structuring*). Again something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge isn’t enough on its own (and any declarations, petitions and pledges aren’t enough on their own), as again obviously so many different forms or kinds of action are needed in order for all the different causes of suffering and injustice to be fought in the most effective ways and in order for benefit to be maximised for everyone in the most effective ways (and it’s obviously not enough for people to sign a declaration, petition or pledge like this one without any intention or effort to take the necessary different kinds of action to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice effectively) which is partly why this calls for all people to collectively take all the necessary different possible kinds of action, and calls for people who sign it to pledge to do as much as it’s possible for them to do to fight the suffering and injustice and to maximise benefit for people/humankind in the most effective ways… (which obviously requires taking all the necessary different possible kinds of action which people can). Again this obviously isn’t a perfect idea or an end in itself, but is just a means to an end which could hopefully be useful or helpful in ensuring humankind/we can get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and in maximising benefit for everyone. This obviously supports all effective action for that purpose, and obviously doesn’t seek to replace any effective action for that, but just seeks to generate or encourage more of it and to work alongside it, etc.
Again this might all sound naively idealistic and optimistic, but till pretty much all people take ideas like these seriously, humankind/we will never be able to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world or in maximising benefit for everyone. Again all the arguments that humankind can’t unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, are all arguments which can’t be proven (or which rely on premises which can’t be proven), and the only thing in that sense which could guarantee that humankind wouldn’t be able to do all of that would be if we didn’t even try; and till we try and do all of that, it’s guaranteed that we’ll never be able to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…; again the only way that all of that (and making all of that the priority of human society…), which is needed if humankind is (or we are) to get far enough in fighting all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximising benefit for everyone in the most effective ways…, can happen is obviously if we (or pretty much all people) ourselves actually make it happen, or if pretty much all people unite in diversity and mobilise together to make it happen, and if pretty much all people create enough space(s) and social environments in the mainstreams (or all) of human society for all people to collectively find the most effective ways to make it happen (and to collectively implement those most effective ways…); but there obviously need be ways to facilitate that uniting in diversity to do all of that…, and the creation of those spaces, etc, and again this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge obviously might not be a good way of going about trying to contribute to facilitating and encouraging that uniting in diversity to do all of that…, and the creation of those spaces, etc, but again it could be useful for there to be something like this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge to contribute to facilitating or encouraging that uniting in diversity, that collective mobilisation, and that creation of those spaces, etc, to find and implement the most effective ways of doing all of that…; for reasons like those outlined above, the more people who show support for something like this, the more this could encourage or motivate more people join in doing all of that, till enough critical masses of people can develop for enough people or all people to be able to actually make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of the suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways… .
Again no-one should feel threatened by this, as its purpose is (by definition) obviously just to benefit everyone as much as possible. Obviously a massive amount needs to be changed in order to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise benefit for everyone in the most effective ways… (and to make all of that the priority of human society…), but that doesn’t mean there’s anything to be lost or sacrificed in terms of levels of benefit, and there’s obviously so much to be gained; again (as is partly outlined above) even the action or behaviour which is necessary to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the most effective ways can (by definition) bring everyone far more effective ways to maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or benefit) for themselves/ourselves, each other and all people*.
*For more explanation of ideas behind this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge, and how it could be useful for efforts to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, please see the text on the pages titled ‘some more explanation’ and ‘is this too vague?’ on this site (the buttons to click on for those pages are in the top-right corner of this page).
If you have questions, comments, criticisms, or ideas of ways which could be more effective and faster in bringing about a situation in which all people can unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways… (which take into account and deal with all the issues raised on the pages of this site), please email peopleunite@peopleunite.net . Again, if there are more effective and faster ways of bringing about a situation like that, then this will obviously support those ways more than or instead of this declaration, petition and pledge.
Thank you very much.
All the very best,
peopleunite@peopleunite.net .
Please sign this ‘people unite’
declaration, petition & pledge
(by filling in your name and email
address in the form just below),
& then please share it, if:
1
– you agree it should be the priority of human society to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world (including social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice) and maximize well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways (in ways which can be empirically and rationally verified as far as possible to be the most effective), together with ensuring in the most effective ways (as they’re defined just above) that globally all people have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy, & so on; and you call for all people to unite in diversity to collectively make all of that the priority of human society in the most effective ways (as they’re defined above), or to unite in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively do all of that, as much as is potentially possible (as much as can be verified (as described above) to be potentially possible), as soon as can be verified (as described above) to be potentially possible (and for as long as … possible), in the most effective ways…;
2
– you call for all people (including all groups of people) to acknowledge and act on the possibility that (as so much evidence shows) the most effective way for all people (including all groups of people) to (collectively) maximize well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves, can (for many reasons) potentially be for all people (…) to live or behave in ways which consist in benefiting or helping other people (or each other) in the most effective ways (as they’re defined above) as much as is potentially possible… (including through not benefiting any person, people or group/groups at the expense of any other person, people or group/groups (including themselves/ourselves), insofar as no one even indirectly causes any suffering and injustice to anyone else, & so on) and forming the best human relationships, community and solidarity potentially possible… in the most effective ways… (including through ensuring (in the most effective ways…) that the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without aren’t irreversibly destroyed), or in uniting in diversity to (collectively) do as much as is potentially possible to collectively eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit (or well-being, happiness and fulfilment) for everyone (or each other) in the most effective ways…; so you call for all people (including all groups of people) to therefore harness or channel their/our drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves/ourselves to live or behave in those ways and unite in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively find and implement the most effective ways (…) to collectively overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize well-being, happiness and fulfilment (or maximize benefit) for everyone (or each other)…, as much as is potentially possible… (or to unite in diversity to collectively make all of that the priority of human society…), taking into account that in order for benefit to be maximized for everyone in the most effective ways…, people’s primary intention in benefiting other people possibly can’t be to benefit themselves/ourselves, but possibly always needs to be to benefit other people in the most effective ways…, with any benefit to themselves/ourselves only being intended to be a secondary by-product; and as part of that, because the purpose of the steps implicitly suggested in the rest of this ‘people unite’ declaration, petition and pledge is obviously to help bring about a situation in which all people (including all groups of people) can unite in diversity to make it the priority of human society to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximise well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in the most effective ways…, you call for all people (…) to possibly harness or channel their/our drives for well-being, happiness and fulfilment to motivate themselves/ourselves to collectively take those steps;
3
– you call for all people to (as much as possible…, globally and locally) work together to empirically and rationally verify (as far as possible…) what those most effective ways to collectively overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone or each other… (and make all of that the priority of human society…) are (and you call for all people to (as much as possible…) work together to (for example) fully actualize their/our potentials for rationality, reflexivity, and critical, creative and holistic thinking in order to do that, alongside calling for all people to (as much as possible…) work together to (for example) seek out, be open to, and critically/rationally examine/question all the evidence (including evidence about social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice, and side effects of actions or behaviours) that’s necessary for doing that (collectively verifying, as described above, how necessary different evidence is for doing that in different situations, as well as verifying the evidence itself as described above, and checking for bias, & so on), and to subsequently collectively take into account all the evidence that can be verified (as described above) to be necessary to take into account in order to do that, & so on);
– you (obviously following on from or linked with that) call for all people to (as much as possible…) work together to (collectively) take the amounts and kinds of action (as well as thought) which all people (as much as possible…) can collectively verify (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively implement (as well as find, as described above) those most effective ways to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone or each other… (and make all of that the priority of human society…);
4
– you call for all people to collectively ensure in the most effective ways (…) that globally all people (or each other) have autonomy to verify empirically and rationally (as far as possible) what those most effective ways to collectively maximize benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves/ourselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice…, in their/our own (local) situations, are, as well as what the most effective ways of implementing those most effective ways of doing all of that…, in their/our own (local) situations, are (together with autonomy to collectively implement those most effective ways of doing all of that…, & so on), insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s autonomy to do the same, and insofar as all people are also uniting in diversity globally to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be collectively and autonomously verified (as described above) by all people (again as far as possible) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively find and implement those most effective ways to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone or each other globally…, or to collectively make all of that the priority of human society… (acknowledging and acting on how, by definition, in order for ways of doing all of that… to be those most effective ways of doing all of that… in any situations, those ways need to be ones which don’t cause any suffering and injustice to any other person, people or group(s) even indirectly, or which don’t obstruct anyone else (even indirectly) from living or behaving in ways that consist in maximizing benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves/ourselves) in the most effective ways…, insofar as no one (else) even indirectly causes any suffering and injustice to anyone else, & so on);
– you call for all people to collectively ensure in the most effective ways (…) that globally all people (or each other) have enough power and resources to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for all people to collectively and autonomously find and implement those most effective ways to collectively maximize benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves/ourselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice…, both in their/our own (local) situations and globally (and make all of that the priority of human society…), as much as it’s potentially possible for them/us to, or as much as it can be verified (as described above) to be potentially possible for them/us to (insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s autonomy to do all of that… (or even indirectly causes any suffering and injustice to anyone else), & so on), again for as long as can be verified (as described above) to be potentially possible, including by ensuring (in the most effective ways…) that the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without aren’t irreversibly destroyed;
– you call for all people to use or manage all the power and resources (as well as all the intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, creativity, skill, talent, time and energy, etc) which they/we have, in those ways which can be verified (as described above) to be the most effective ways (…) to collectively maximize benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves/ourselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice (again as well as collectively ensure that globally all people have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy), both in their/our own (local) situations and globally (and make all of that the priority of human society…), again for as long as can be verified (as described above) to be potentially possible, again including by ensuring (in the most effective ways…) that the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without aren’t irreversibly destroyed;
5
– you call for all people, and in particular all people or groups who can be verified (as described above) to have the most control over any (controllable) influences which (can be verified, as described above, to) have the most influence on the most people’s thought, behaviour, values, aspirations and consciousness (including mass media and mass education systems), to collectively ensure in the most effective ways (…) that all people (or each other) have freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all those types of influences and all other controllable influences) insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else, & so on;
– you (partly to ensure… all people have that freedom of speech or expression (with egalitarian access to the control of all those types of influences and all other controllable influences) insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else…), also call for all people (and in particular all those people or groups who can be verified (as described above) to have the most control over any of those types of influences) to collectively ensure in the most effective ways (…) that all people (or each other) are motivated enough to unite in diversity to collectively find and implement those most effective ways to collectively overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone or each other… (i.e. ensure… that all people… are motivated enough (to collectively do all of that…) for all people to actually collectively do all of that…), possibly including by collectively exposing and publicizing to a sufficient extent to all people or each other (or collectively ensuring in the most effective ways (…) that all people or each other have enough consciousness of) things such as:
• how much suffering and injustice can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be caused (even indirectly) and allowed within and by the current social structuring (including political, economic and ideological structuring) of human society globally, and how that suffering and injustice is (or can be verified (as described above) to be) caused (even indirectly) and allowed within and by the current structuring;
• how all the arguments that humankind can’t collectively overcome and eliminate all that suffering and injustice (which can be verified (as described above) to be caused (even indirectly) and allowed within and by the current social structuring of human society), in order to maximize benefit for everyone or each other in those most effective ways…, are arguments which can’t be proven (or which rely on premises that can’t be proven); or how all the arguments that humankind can’t collectively overcome and eliminate all the social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice in the world, and collectively change the current social structuring of human society to make it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone in those most effective ways…, are arguments which can’t be proven (…);
• how living or behaving in ways which consist in uniting in diversity to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone or each other in those most effective ways… (or in order for humankind to collectively make all of that the priority of human society…), can obviously potentially be the most effective way for all people (including all groups of people) to (collectively) maximize well-being, happiness and fulfilment for themselves/ourselves or each other, as again so much evidence also shows (and how doing all of that… is also conducive to ensuring all people have freedom of speech or expression, with egalitarian access to the control of all of those types of influences, insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else);
• which social structures, systems and behaviours (within the current overall social structuring of human society) can be verified (as described above) to even indirectly cause or allow suffering and injustice (primarily which social structures, systems and behaviours can be verified (as described above) to cause (even indirectly) or allow the most suffering and injustice), as well as how those social structures, systems and behaviours even indirectly cause or allow suffering and injustice, or can be verified (as described above) to even indirectly cause or allow suffering and injustice (with all people having freedom of speech or expression (and egalitarian access to the control of all those influences) to expose and publicize all that to a sufficient extent, insofar as no one obstructs anyone else’s freedoms to do the same);
• which social structural, systemic and behavioural causes of suffering and injustice can be verified (as described above) to be the particular types of underlying/root causes of suffering and injustice which humankind needs to overcome and eliminate in order for humankind to be able to collectively fight all the other different causes of suffering and injustice in the world (and maximize benefit for everyone or each other) in the most effective ways…, or in order for humankind to be able to collectively overcome and eliminate as much suffering and injustice as it can be verified (as described above) to be potentially possible to (and maximize benefit for everyone as much as is potentially possible…) in the most effective ways… (again with all people having freedom of speech or expression (and egalitarian access to the control of all those influences) to expose and publicize to a sufficient extent which causes of suffering and injustice can be verified (as described above) to be causes of suffering and injustice of that particular type, insofar as no one obstructs anyone else’s freedoms to do the same);
• how so much worse human suffering and injustice, and even human extinction (following the extinction of possibly over a million of other species), will, according to peer-reviewed science, be caused by certain social structures, systems and behaviours within the current overall social structuring of human society due to how they are irreversibly destroying the ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without, as well as how quickly that far worse human suffering and injustice (or even human extinction) will be caused, unless people can overcome and eliminate those social structures, systems and behaviours fast enough (or how little time people have left to overcome and eliminate those social structures, systems and behaviours to save those ecosystems and environments which humankind can’t survive without), again all according to peer-reviewed science;
• which social structures, systems and behaviours within the current overall social structuring of human society will, according to peer-reviewed science, cause that far worse human suffering and injustice, and even human extinction (unless people can overcome and eliminate those social structures, systems and behaviours fast enough), as well as how much suffering and injustice those social structures, systems and behaviours are causing already (and have caused) in many areas of the world (along with how those social structures, systems and behaviours will cause that far worse human suffering and injustice, and even human extinction (unless people can overcome and eliminate them fast enough), and how they are already causing all the suffering and injustice they are already causing), again all according to peer-reviewed science;
• the amounts and kinds of action and thought which it’s (or which it can be collectively and autonomously verified (as described above) by all people (as much as possible…) to be) necessary for humankind to collectively take in order for humankind to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice (primarily social structures, systems and behaviours which can be verified (as described above) to cause (even indirectly) or allow the most suffering and injustice, or to be the particular types of causes of suffering and injustice mentioned above) in the world and maximize benefit for everyone or each other in those most effective ways… (again including ensuring in the most effective ways (…) that globally all people have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy) as much as can be verified (as described above) to be potentially possible… (or in order for humankind to make all of that the priority of human society…);
• ways which any people in any of the different situations in the world can verify (as described above) to be the most effective ways (according to how they’re defined, and later elaborated on, above) to fight causes of suffering and injustice (primarily social structures, systems and behaviours which can be verified (as described above) to cause (even indirectly) or allow the most suffering and injustice, or to be the particular types of causes of suffering and injustice mentioned above) and to maximize benefit for everyone or each other, in situations they/we are in (again without even indirectly causing any suffering and injustice to any (other) people, insofar as no one (else) even indirectly causes suffering and injustice to any (other) people, & so on); while again still ensuring in the most effective ways (…) that globally all people have self-determination and autonomy (to verify (as described above) if those ways are also the most effective in their/our own (local) situations, if those ways need to be adapted for their/our own (local) situations, or if other ways… are the most effective in their/our own (local) situations, & so on) insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy (to do the same), and insofar as all people are uniting in diversity globally to collectively take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for humankind to collectively find and implement those most effective ways to collectively fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone (or each other) globally… (and make all of that the priority of human society…);
• how many (other) people agree it should be the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize benefit for everyone in those most effective ways…, how many (other) people call for all people to unite in diversity to do all of that…, and how many (other) pledge to do as much as is potentially possible to do all of that…;
6
– you (again partly also to ensure all people have that freedom of speech or expression, with egalitarian access to the control of all of those types of influences mentioned above (including mass media and mass education systems), insofar as no one obstructs the same freedoms of anyone else) also call for all people, and in particular all those people or groups who can be verified (as described above) to have the most control over any of those types of influences, to collectively make (in the most effective ways…) enough space(s) for all people to be able to (and social environments which enable all people to) collectively and autonomously verify (as described above) what those most effective ways to collectively maximize benefit for everyone or each other (including themselves/ourselves) and fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice…, both in their/our own (local) situations and globally (and make all of that the priority of human society…) are, as well as what the most effective ways of autonomously and collectively implementing those most effective ways of doing all of that… are, & so on, insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else from doing the same, & so on;
7
– you pledge to take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be empirically and rationally verified (as far as possible) to be necessary in order for you to contribute to fighting the suffering and injustice in the world and maximizing benefit for people/humankind (including by contributing to ensuring that the ecosystems and environments which humankind cannot survive without aren’t irreversibly destroyed) in the most effective ways (…) as much as it’s potentially possible for you to (or as much as it can be verified (as described above) to be potentially possible for you to)…;
– you (linking with that) pledge to take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for you to contribute in the most effective ways (…), as much as it’s (or as much as it can be verified (as described above) to be) potentially possible for you to contribute, to making it the priority of human society to fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in those most effective ways…;
– you call for all people to also take the amounts and kinds of action and thought which can be verified (as described above) to be necessary in order for them/us to do all that as much as it’s (or as much as it can be verified (as described above) to be) potentially possible for them/us to…, together with you and all other people;
8
– you (partly as this ‘people unite’ declaration, pledge and petition is obviously far from perfect) call for all people to collectively find and implement the/those most effective ways (…) to call for all people or each other to unite in diversity to collectively make it the priority of human society to overcome and eliminate or fight all the different causes of suffering and injustice in the world and maximize well-being, happiness and fulfilment for everyone in those most effective ways, together with ensuring (in the most effective ways…) that globally all people have self-determination and autonomy insofar as no one even indirectly obstructs anyone else’s self-determination and autonomy…
